*** PLEASE NOTE *** This is the second sale at this building. The first sale was held March 21-24 in the first and second floor apartments and featured furniture, home decor and costume jewelry from the estate. The entire building including the basement, bedroom #2 on the first floor and the first and second floor landings will be opened up for the second sale and will feature clothing, accessories, fabric, trims, patterns and other sewing notions. The few remaining items from the first sale will be deeply discounted from the start and in addition, we are offering so many new items it encompasses a great estate sale on their own.

This charming brick 2-flat built in 1928 has been in the same family for 3 generations and is just loaded with vintage treasures. Most recently occupied by a pair of sisters, one in each apartment, they both had exquisite taste for lovely things. Avid seamstresses, they made all of their own clothing and were always decked out in their handmade outfits with coordinating hats, gloves and handbags and it's all for sale! Offered will be hundreds of pieces of handmade vintage clothing, lingerie, girdles and more. There is an abundance of vintage purses, handbags, gloves and accessories. The basement is loaded with boxes of sewing supplies including fabric, trims, notions and more. A bedroom will be opened up to reveal a lovely French Provincial bedroom set and there is more antique and vintage furniture on the landings including a glamorous tufted slipper chair and antiqued metal storage cabinets. There is a metal pattern cabinet on the first floor landing which came from a store filled with vintage patterns. The original pair of turquoise color pedestal sinks are also for sale. There are about a hundred darling dolls, outfitted with handmade clothing. The sisters even made bride and groom wear for a pair of dolls, modeled after the garments their parents wore when they married.

The home is on the market so everything must go! This is a truly wonderful sale and not to be missed! Here is just a sampling of the items available for sale. As more items are unearthed, the list will be updated.

Generally speaking...

Clothing - most are handmade 1960s styles made with colorful but solid color polyester fabrics. There are some 1940s and 1950s styles too, all probably made in the 1970s and 1980s. Some dresses are plain but with nice seaming details and many have great embellishments such as crewel embroidery, trim, fabric flowers and appliques. There are mostly dresses along with a bunch of cropped jackets, blouses and skirt suits. There are also a bunch of beautiful coats, both winter and spring styles, some with fur trim. There are a few 1940s swimsuits. The clothing is mostly handmade and therefore not marked with a size, but sizes seem to range from 8-12. Some of the coats seem to be larger sized than that. Everything is just darling!

Accessories - there are lots of beanie-style caps which match the dresses and skirt suits. There are so many adorable and stylish non-handmade vintage hats covered with flowers or are woven and have sequin details and more. Many have netting that just covers the eyes when the hats are worn. There are also a couple of hundred purses and handbags, some are handmade in fabrics to match the outfits, most are vintage manufactured pieces which range from woven straw to leather to tapestry to vinyl. Clutches and handbags abound! There are umbrellas to match some of the outfits as well as lots of gloves. The sisters even made little fabric pouches out of fabric scraps to hold their jewelry!

Patterns - The patterns are in the pattern cabinet on the first floor landing. Most of the patterns appear to be from the 1970s and 1980s and were used to make the dresses and suits. During a quick glance, we found a 1940s pattern so there may be some older patterns too.

Fabric - Most all of the fabric is cotton or acetate lining. We only found one piece of upholstery fabric. There are some sheer draperies that could also be used for fabric projects.

Second Floor
