*Crazy Quilt* Newspaper Article:

"One of the most elaborate of the Crazy Quilts, a wide maroon velvet border trimmed with lace and satin cord binding sets off the intricate designs which use a variety of fabrics and fancy embroidery. A large white bird carrying a rolled paper on which is written the word "Divorce" poses an intriguing, unanswered question in one of the many designs which compose this coverlet.

But the story behind the quilt is historic. Loaned by Marilyn Potts of Downers Grove, it was made in 1883 for her maternal grandmother, Mary Fenton Gafford, niece of Governor Reuben E. Fenton, New York Governor from 1865 to 1869.

He also served as a US Senator and US Congressman."
