Description & Details

An Orange Moon presents another historic estate sale. Designers this intimate estate belonged to the niece of the esteemed author "LORRAINE HANSBERRY" of "A Raisin in the Sun" fame.

Ms. Carol Hansberry was a flight attendant that frequented the Orient for shopping on a bi-weekly basis. She favored Chinoiserie furnishings and Mid Century Modern! Her vibe was all about serenity. It is reflected in her design style. This is the perfect sale for true Design Stars that know their stuff. Think 1st Dibs! This sale is not a dig nor rummage. Here is a sneek peek of furnishings available at this sale slated for this Sunday, October 17th, 2010, from 9a-4p.

Check back daily for photos.

*This home is an architectural delight to all those interested in the Asian Mid Century Modern Design.
Ruby Dee, nominated for eight Emmy awards, is probably best known as Ruth for her portrayl in Lorraines Hansberrys screenplay, "A Raisin in the Sun." Lorraine Hansberry is the Carols aunt-- the owner of this estate.
Carol Hansberry favored Chinoiserie & Mid Century Modern pieces. Her choice of wood appears to be Amber or Honey Maple in color.

It's black laquered feet, arms & back add a certain unexpected appeal. Designers, stuff it with feather down and have it covered in "Hopsack." I visualize this sofa on the cover of Chicago Home & Garden magazine!
