First of all, let me apologize for any inconveniences you may have experienced while attending our recent LaGrange sale. Steve was putting some updates on the ad copy on estatesales.net a couple of days before the sale started, and unbeknownst to either of us, while he did not change the date and time on the listing, apparently when you make any change at all on that venue, it defaults to a set time stored in their computer, which in this case was 9AM to 4PM. We still had the correct times on the ad copy, but some of you don’t read the entire ad. Again, we are profusely sorry if any of you arrived early or came late Sunday, and we hope you won’t hold it against us! And while this is long, we hope you read this entire ad because it’s chock full of great things ;-)

We’ve been running estate sales now for nearly ten years, and our next sale probably has the most comprehensive inventory of interesting, beautiful, unique, collectible or just plain cool items that folks look for at estate sales in all the sales we’ve ever conducted, and we are not exaggerating. There were somewhere around 120 boxes of items to be opened, and the quality and sheer volume of great stuff is really jaw dropping, especially because at first glance, the 2 bedroom plus loft townhome doesn’t appear that it could possibly hold this much, but trust us, it does. The homeowners have given up most of their glass, antique and collectibles business and they have an incredible eye for choosing their merchandise, so in addition to their fabulous personal belongings and furnishings, they are selling a lot of their store inventory as well.

It could take forever to list all the items they have and we could probably answer what they don’t have easier than what they do! That said, we picked some of the highlights that come to mind. We also took around 500 photos of items which can be viewed in a slideshow, so you may wish to make some notes if you can watch the photobucket slideshow, which is at http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v374/babbzy/Working%20Sage%20Album/ grab a cup of coffee and click on “view entire album or see as slide show” so you don’t miss anything when you arrive. There are some very awesome items that will be nearly impossible to photograph, but are amazing, including a vintage mirrored mural of New York City’s skyline, which does include the World Trade Towers. They used it as a surround and backdrop on a bar in their former home, and as it is in pieces, it can go around a corner, too. Stunning!!

Another item that deserves a mention is their incredible Amish made Dining Table and 6 chairs, which cost over $4,000 new but to replace would be considerably more today. It’s crafted in cherry in the Mission or Arts & Crafts style, and talk about quality construction – the wood is so finely made it feels like silk or glass. Chairs are comfortable with leather seats and high backs. The set is in perfect condition, and we will keep it covered to prevent scratches, but you must check it out. Other highlights:

•TONS of china and dinnerware sets, one set nicer than the next. I bet there are 4 complete sets of china, three or four like new stoneware or ceramic dinnerware sets, fab serving pieces, and more. Very Complete set of Marshall Fields Silverplate Flatware, beautiful bakeware, and enough BELLEEK from Ireland to make your heart go pitter patter, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

•INCREDIBLE glass and crystal pieces. From Fostoria to Tiffin to Waterford (TONS of Waterford), to Swarovski and a fabulous pattern from one of the “Slav” countries, their glassware and stemware, and bowls, decanters, and miscellaneous items are not to be believed. A Waterford Crystal Tree Topper and Chandelier are just two of an incredible array of fine crystal offered.

•AMAZING Sculptures and works of art by Borsato, G. Cappe, Lladro, vintage cutie figurines by Goebel, Lefton, Josef, Anri, and more. Art Glass and art pottery, including a neat Deco vase by Roseville, Wedgwood, and just adorable and whimsical pieces of Disney Collector Club, Black Americana, Disneyanna, including Peter Pan and Tinkerbell collectibles, Fitz & Floyd, Crate & Barrel. Two hanging art pieces completely crafted from watch parts – again, totally unique!

•ANTIQUE items like a Tapestry of af a poem by Alfred Tennyson, done in needlework on silk from 1862, framed, with Provenance. Primitive Wool Winder, Eastlake Three-Quarter Bed, with brand new custom Mattress & Box Spring, never slept on, and custom designed sheets and bedding. It’s incredible! Also Antique Dressing Table with 3 way mirror, lovely. Stickley Chair, Antique Gentlemen’s Wardrobe or Chiffarobe in perfect condition, Story Book Dolls, Adorable Bamboo Sun Room Furniture from the 1940s or ‘50s – very comprehensive set, still with the plastic on the cushions!! Perfect for a rec room or 3 Season Room in a retro motif!

•FURNITURE includes two leather sofas, a leather loveseat, upholstered sofa and loveseat and oversized chair, occasional tables, again in the Mission Style, the aforementioned Dining Room table & Chairs set to die for, lamps, including at least 4 collectible Aladdin Electrical Lamps. Wonderful Curio Cabinets with great lighting. Awesome Hooker Entertainment Unit, which will accommodate a large flat screen tv and has terrific storage too, and a fabulous Mission Style set up with two towers which could flank a large flat screen tv with a bridge above it to tie it all together as well. Double Teak Danish tables that expand to a football field size but take no space to store…okay I exaggerated there…also cabinets, Bombay chests, another cute little dressing table & stool, perfect for a little girl’s room. Darling Scottie Lamp. Several nice area rugs.

•MUSIC BOX COLLECTION, jewelry, miniature perfume bottle collection and about several hundred gift ideas for Valentines’ Day. Fishing Supplies, Camping Stuff, Sears Cartop luggage carrier, tools, hardware, vacuum cleaner, shelves, shadow boxes, Clocks, including a LeCoutre travel clock, Bulova Anniversary Clock, and more. Wonder Horse, double (twin) stroller by Cosco, Toys, Russian Nesting Dolls, vintage Linens, Fur Coat (we think it’s a sheared mink), curly lamb fur jacket, great clothes.. 5 BOXES of LP’s, some 78 speed records too, in a few genres, including the 1961 Beatles First! Album recorded in Germany and VERY scarce, all the other Beatles Albums, Country, Vintage Country and Early Jerry Lee Lewis-like Rock and Roll.

•We have a couple of marvelous carvings, done in Wooly (or is it Woolie?) Mammoth ivory tusk, antique from late 19th Century Chinese Puzzle Ball on an ornate stand, and a very cool ivory boat on a mahogany stand – simply amazing. There is a Le Coultre travel alarm clock, another brand new Coach alarm clock with leather case and dust bag, a FABULOUS Amana Furniture Eli Terry Clock in MINT condition. Also a brand new never out of box HEPA Air Filter System, boat seats, an awesome SLOT MACHINE (just like in ‘Vegas!) that works like a charm,

•Polish wood carvings, and holy cow – the very fine Christmas items offered are not to be believed. Cute Shiny Brite Bubble Lamp Tree, expensive hand blown ornaments, vintage and current, but very nice accessories. Three Fireplace screens, including my favorite one with Cardinals on it.

Anyway, you are getting the idea! THERE IS SO MUCH MORE!! Clearly if you’ve been following our sales, you know that we get some nice stuff at our sales and this one just blows them all away. Parking will be challenging because it is a townhouse complex, so please, please, use your head when you park and don’t block the neighbors’ driveways. If it looks like there will be trouble with thru-traffic because of parking on both sides of the street, then don’t risk it and park down the block some – we’ll hold your purchases so you can drive up and pick them up. And don’t give up on the parking! This kind of sale only comes around once in a lifetime!

As always, we accept cash or personal checks with an i.d. And we know you have a huge choice of where to spend your $$ and time and thank you for spending some of that with us. (And by the way, that recent Naperville Sale on Danada Ct. was NOT our sale – the gal just used all our normal verbage, word for word, on her ad! What is WITH these copycat folks, anyway?!)

So Be There or Be Square – See you at the Sale!
