Dan Castellaneta, voice of Homer Simpson, attended Oak Park/River Forest High School in the mid 70's and later NIU to study to become an art teacher. His father, Lou, who moved to this Westchester home in 1999, was a tremendously skilled artist and oil painter - we will have a large collection of oil paintings by Dan (circa 1970's) and Lou (a couple of sculptures as well) available at the sale along with a very nice selection of Simpsons collectibles including scripts and cast jackets personalized to Lou and Mom, Elsie! Lots of household items including some great mid-century furniture (see the great console bar), sofas, dressers, a nice cedar chest, vintage dinette chairs, a gorgeous oak dining room set, lots of old cameras, a a great library of books (several old), a nice selection of LP's, CD's, DVD's & VHS, much more art & photography by other artists including an autographed Bruce Springsteen photograph, other terrific pieces by Peter Coombs and many unframed collectible prints/posters from Mr. Castellaneta's long-time employer, RR Donnelley. A great deal of art supplies including oil paints, brushes and drawing pads, some vintage jewelry and watches (NO silver or gold here!). War memorabilia includes helmets from WWI and II and US Navy books (Bluejackets manual and others). Decorative collectibles include a large Lladro collection with original boxes, some Capodimonte and Hummel. A packed garage with tools , 3 vintage bicycles and more will be available.
We will be taking bids on a couple of Simpsons items such as a large collection of Simpsons shows recorded on VHS going all the way back to the Tracey Ullman Show and also a large collection of newspaper clippings about The Simpsons and Dan Castellaneta.
