From an immaculately maintained home in Meridian Place in Indianapolis, Castles & Attics, in conjunction with Ripley Auction, is proud to offer this fine selection of household and garden furnishings. A Sheraton-style sofa remains as distinguished as when a photo of it was taken in 1927. The massive claw-footed round dining table has 12 leaves, which have been nestled in their original storage case for more than 100 years—a photo exists of the family seated around it at full extension. A Jacobean-style partner's desk and an unusual single wardrobe from England are as functional now as they were when produced. If the curved legs on the bottom weren't there, one would swear the clean-lined five-drawer chest was modern. A turn of the last century Empire Revival piece, it is indicative of the fine subdued tastes offered in this sale. A Berkey - Gay twin bedroom suite might be thought unremarkable, but because the headboard and the footboard of the two beds are even, envision them instead as a pair of DAY beds on either side of your fireplace. The black lacquer chinoiserie decoration of a chest and mirror makes it perfect as an entryway piece. Take your choice of two sideboards—both with backsplashes—that certainly would highlight the massive pewter dome or the copper samovar that is also available. A pair of massive Italian terra cotta canines stand sentinel by the fireplace but are also ready to guard your manse. The unusual garden furniture will look lovely on your patio in situ, and the iron urns and concrete fauna (including squirrels, turtles, and a chicken) will feel right at home in your refuge. The capo di monte floral centerpiece looks real; the Lenox, the Haviland, and the Dresden-style China pair well with the American crystal stemware and the outstanding Irish lead crystal compotes that shine like diamonds in the sunlight. Among the basement finds are vintage holiday items, including a rare German cotton batting turkey : miscellaneous silver-plated ware, brass items, lamps, and rugs round out the sale.
