Oct. 9 - The 2nd floor original door with etched glass has been removed from this auction due to that no adequate replacement door is available. Doors with correct height & width are available, but the thickness of replacement door can't quickly be found. This 1800's door is thinner than current doors. If anyone interested in this door can provide a door or give information about obtaining a  door of correct thickness, this antique Fogli Hotel door may be For Sale in the future, so call Auctions by Diana Cook to get on the door interest list. The replacement door can be old or modern, it just has to properly fit by height, width & thickness. We apologize for removal of this one item.

Fogli Hotel & Resort history - only owned by 2 couples since 1898,  Benjamin & Mary Fogli and Edith & Jack Lessie who purchased in 1967 for private residence. In late 1800's through 1930's the banks of Kankakee River in Thayer/Shelby was a sportsman's paradise, attracting wealthy guests all over the U.S. & foreign countries. Access just was walking steps via a Monon Railroad stop. Foglis' originally came from Chicago's Hegewisch neighborhood. As a 11-guest room hotel, Fogli was known as a family resting place & delicious food fried chicken with dining seats for 85 diners. On  property too was a club house (tavern), ice house & horse livery stable, all since dismantled. Verbal legend claims Teddy Roosevelt vacationed at Fogli Hotel. Fogli is a designated site by Newton County Historical Society. Blue sign in photos highlights its importance, sign isn't  up for Auction. Real estate, home & pole barn are For Sale by direct private sale. YouTube Fogli Hotel for arial views & inside rooms of this 4,480 square foot residence.
