SHAWNEE MISSION LA SERTOMA ESTATE SALE--Dec. 6 - 9.  THIS SALE IS VINTAGE, VINTAGE, VINTAGE!  And also FREE vintage THEATER IN THE PARK COOKBOOK TO THE FIRST 7,004 PURCHASES OVER $10!  Seriously--we have several boxes of old cookbooks with old LaSertoma recipes in them and we're giving them away for purchases over $10--your hard-to-buy-for dilemma SOLVED!    And believe you me, the LaSertoma recipe for Luncheon Salad is worth more that $10.  (You know, that just gave me the idea to make a batch of that salad to let our shoppers taste-test.  Memo to self:  Buy tomato soup, lemon jello, cucumber....)  This is a really neat, huge old house, built in the 19-teens and it's a lovely house.  It's the estate of a long-time LaSertoma member, a great lady who had wonderful taste (it is NOT her recipe for Luncheon Salad.) You will enter through the BACK DOOR and what you'll find there includes:

FAMILY ROOM:  (As you enter the back door)  Vintage toys and books; vintage aprons; white paintable china, dishes, glassware, salt and pepper shakers;  knick-knacks and sitarounds; books; glass serving pieces, some depressionware and a few pieces of ruby glass; pictures, sofa and chairs, lamps, side tables; set of painted china dishes;

KITCHEN/BUTLER'S PANTRY/DINING ROOM:  Dishes, servingware, lots of nice glassware, china pieces; nice little bookshelf in the dining room;

FRONT HALL CLOSET:  Vintage clothing, ladies' and men's;

FRONT PARLOR:  Lots and lots of books, side tables, chairs, and don't miss the SIDE PORCH, which has some very interesting old luggage, old gardening tools;

It'll be sunny (we hope)! Temp 282.

BACK PARLOR (well, it's behind the Front Parlor, pardon me, I didn't know what to call it) Lots of lovely jewelry, of course it's vintagej, with lots of clip earrings.  Closet contains some kitchenware items and small appliances.

UPSTAIRS:  Bedroom to the right of the stairs:  Neat little child's dresser; old cathode ray TV replacement tube; very nice full bed, looks like it's walnut; old books, etc.;

BEDROOM straight in front of the stairs:  Lots of vintage linens, closets contain vintage ladies' clothing;

FRONT BEDROOM, Southeast corner of house; Lovely antique maybe queen-sized bed, I would say walnut? Sorry I don't know the style, look at the pictures; two dressers, one with mirror; vintage ladies' hats, clothing, some great luggage, misc. neat stuff;

ANOTHER BEDROOM, on the Northeast side.  Another nice antique bed, some linens and china in the closet, I'm not sure why it's there.

BASEMENT:  Oh my gosh the basement is fun!  There are a lot of vintage electronics, including a pair of death-ray tritium bedside ionizers (you plug 'em in and see if they work, I'm not going to!)  LOTS AND LOTS of antique Ball jars, some blue-colored, lots of matching lids; some bath fixtures from the original house; a whole ROOM full of rusty old tools and stuff that we're selling by the pile, no kidding!

This is really an exciting sale and really, it's just pretty much intact, so you will want to pay us a visit!  REMEMBER that LaSertoma is an ALL-VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T PAY US TO DO THIS STUFF AND WE GIVE ALL OF OUR PROFITS TO NURSE SCHOLARSHIPS!  Come visit us and I'll quit yelling at you!
