Features an adjustable hook clasp securing two side sections with turquoise needlepoint embellishment, leading to a center of needlepoint turquoise, with a suspended teardrop of needlepoint turquoise stones framing a center round turquoise cabochon, and five silver hanging tabs. In addition to the intricate turquoise needlepoint, Hunter uses beaded, rope and loop detailing throughout. The necklace is adjustable in length, please see measurement details for more information on size. Dimitruk began his career as a glass artist at the renowned Lundberg Art Glass Studio in Santa Cruz, CA. He acquired Vines Art Glass, a respected studio since 1982, from artist Roger Vines in 2004. The Mallard is a good example of Dimitruk’s work, with smooth lines of iridescent glass, speckled and mottled in places with shards of colored glass that have been manipulated by hand tools. The piece is signed and dated ’06 to the bottom by Dimitruk for Vines.Mid-Twentieth Century Mexican 960 Silver and Turquoise Brooch by Rafael Dominguez: A mid-twentieth century 960 silver and turquoise brooch by Rafael Dominguez (1911-1980). Dominguez was a lifelong silversmith, taught by his elders and apprenticed with William Spratling, whom many consider to be the “Father of Taxco Sterling” and later started his Casa Dominguez silver studio in Taxco in 1943. This piece is typical of Dominguez’ work and features a stylized blossom design with a rope bezel at center around the round green turquoise cabochon. The piece can be worn as a brooch or a pendant. It is stamped 960, Taxco and RD. The total weight of the piece is 0.98 ozt.
