We have the distinct honor of hosting the Rita and George M. Roy estate sale. The Roy family owned Lafayette Motors, Louisiana's first franchised automobile dealer. It began in 1911 and was owned by this same family for four generations. The Roy home was built in 1948 when Myrtle Place was just a gravel road near the college and was continuously lived in by the couple for 70 years. A special note are the three beautiful live oaks on the property--Mrs. Roy planted these seventy years ago when they were carried down Myrtle Place in coffee cans as saplings from...
