James Fenimore Cooper IV and Edna Shaheen Cooper settled along the banks of the Vermillion River in Vermilion Parish on a 78 acre farm and raised a family while Mr. Jim worked in the oil field as a geologist. James Fenimore Cooper IV (Jim) is the direct descendant of the American Heritage writer James Fenimore Cooper (famous for The Deerslayer and The Last of the Mohicans and William Cooper, founder of Cooperstown, New York. 8 volumes of John James Audubon BIRDS OF AMERICA--the George Lockwood 1870 edition. Each volume has the plate James Fenimore Cooper --this would be the 2nd-NOTE--Over a hundred years ago, someone tore out some of the bird plates so the books are not complete. I can send you a complete list of the engravings that we do have.
