Orleans Estate Sale

Description:  

This is the estate of listed Cape Cod artist Barbara A Melcher.  There are probably 1000 pieces of artwork, lithographs, etchings and more to be offered.  Most of the items are lithographs and etchings, but there are piles of them!  Also art supplies, art books, pottery, art by other Cape Cod artists, furniture, antiques, mid-century items, clothing, jewelry, books, figurines, kitchen items, outdoor items, rugs, tools, and much, much more.

Barbara was a mostly Cape Cod trained artist.  She was a member and past president of the Nauset Painters.  Members and past exhibit coordinator and past president of the Printmakers.  Exhibiting member of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. Member of the Orleans art council and more.  Her works are in the permanent archives of National Institute of Health in Bethesda Maryland and Cape Museum of Art in Dennis.  She has won many awards.  Auction records for her works can be found online at askart and other sources.  

We will have a rubber stamp stating that the item is from the estate of Barbara A Melcher and sold through Gaynor’s Fine Consignments if you would like the stamp applied to provide provenance.  We can apply the stamp at the point of purchase if desired.  This is especially important for unsigned pieces.  

This Sale Rating:  Silver/Gold

Rating Guide: We rate our estate sales on a scale from Bronze to Platinum. 

Platinum:  A really good sale. Everything is top notch quality.  Fine antiques or good clean name brand contemporary items.  A sale not to be missed.  Only the finest homes with the best quality material get this rating.  If you are only going to hit one sale this weekend, make sure that this is it!  

Gold: Good clean quality sale.  Mostly higher end, you will not want to miss this one.  

Silver: Nice mixture of material.  Some good items, some low end. Pretty much something for everyone. 

Bronze:  Just stuff.  But priced to move!

Special Instructions:

There should be plenty of parking on the street.  If you are coming close to the opening of the sale we encourage people to bring stickers marked “Sold” with your name on it to place on larger items that you want.  Just make sure that you are definitely taking the piece as once you put the sticker on it, you bought it.

Some items that appear in the photos may not be there on sale day.  Photos are often taken up to 2 weeks before the sale.  Unfortunately it is not uncommon for owners or family members to decide at the last minute not to include an item in the sale.  On the other hand, there are always many items that are not pictured that come out of boxes, cabinets, etc that will be available on sale day.
