Full payment is required at end of the auction including full stated buyer's premium and any applicable taxes. Sales Tax: 6.25% Sales Tax Applied to invoice total, including Internet Premium of 20%. The auction ends on Monday, March 2, beginning at 9:00 a.m. All purchases will be subject to a 6.25% Massachusetts sales tax unless the purchaser possesses a valid tax-exempt number. LiveAuctioneers requires that you upload a copy of your Tax I.D. Please upload your tax exemption certificate prior to the end of the auction on Monday, March 2. No exceptions.

Bidder acknowledges and understands that this service may or may not function correctly the day of the auction. Under no circumstances shall Bidder have any kind of claim against Central Mass Auctions or any other parties if the Internet service fails to work correctly before or during the live auction. Central Mass Auctions will not be responsible for any missed bids from any source. Internet bidders who desire to make certain their bid is acknowledged should use the proxy-bidding feature and leave their maximum bid 24 hours or more before the auction closes. Central Mass Auctions reserves the right to withdraw or re-catalog items in this auction. All purchases through Live Auctioneers will be assessed a 20% Buyers' Premium. This will be added to the purchase price and is subject to all applicable sales taxes.
PREVIEW: There will be no live preview. Photos will act as preview for this auction. CMA reserves the right to withdraw any lot at any time before the auction without any liability. All items are sold as is, where is.

Payment Instructions:
Invoices of $5,000 or more require payment by wire transfer or cashier's check. We also do not accept ACH payments on items of $5,000 or more. Please pay the invoice when you receive it by Wednesday, March 4 at 5:00 p.m. using Live Auctioneers Payment System. If you are tax exempt, please make sure to enter your tax I.D. Please contact the auctioneer prior to the end of the auction if you would like to discuss other arrangements for payment. No changes can be made without written consent of the auction house. Please make sure the card you register with has enough funds to cover your purchases.
LOCAL PICK UP: As a courtesy to local bidders, we offer local pickup in Leicester, MA. The address will be provided to those scheduling a pickup time. Local Pickup date is Saturday, March 7 from 9:00 to 2:00 PM. Please respond to the email that will be sent out after auction end to schedule a pickup time.
For all items where the bidder requests local pickup they must be picked up on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Please contact the auction house prior to the end of the auction by emailing info@centralmassauctions.com if you are unable to pick up on Saturday, March 7 to see if your request for a later local pickup can be accommodated. For those requesting local pickup, items not picked up by March 30 are considered abandoned property.
Removal: No item may be removed from the auction site until the full bid price and taxes are paid. All items must be removed during the scheduled pickup time unless arrangements are made in writing with the auctioneer.
The packaging, removal and loading of all items is the responsibility of the winning bidder. Please bring any packaging materials, moving equipment, etc. that you might need.
3RD PARTY SHIPPING: We will be using 3rd party shipping for some items. Please refer to auction listing which details those items. Please factor outside shipping costs when you bid. For 3rd party shipping there are pickup charges, packaging, and shipping charges. If 3rd party shipping is required, we will put you in contact with the shipper so that you can discuss any shipping questions or concerns directly with them. We will notify you letting you know your items will be picked up by the 3rd party shipper. Large and fragile items require higher shipping and packing charges.
INHOUSE SHIPPING: We are offering inhouse shipping for many items. Please refer to the auction listing which details those items. For those who do not choose local pick up, we will calculate shipping costs when your invoice is paid. Please allow 5 business days after the local pick up on March 7, 2026 is complete to receive your shipping invoice. Shipping costs to be paid with PayPal or Venmo. Please then allow 5 additional days to package and ship your item(s) from when the shipping invoice has been paid.
Bidding Information: Lots will be sold in numerical order according to the catalog. Bids will be accepted in whole dollar amounts only and using the bid increments listed below. All bids accepted at the auctioneer's discretion. Bidding increments do not include buyer's premium, sales tax, insurance, and/or shipping.

We are offering the Civil War memorabilia collection from the estate of Reverend Walter J. Riley. Reverend Riley was a Civil War history buff who collected artifacts including photographs, letters, documents, broadsides, banners, medals, ribbons, and books related to the war. Reverend Riley was the pastor of St. Anne's Parish in Shrewsbury, MA. All the items in this auction are from his estate, with no additions.
