Savvy is honored to host a sale for the family of a multimedia arts activist whose works have been exhibited in galleries worldwide. The family has lived abroad and traveled extensively, which is reflected in the collections available at this sale.
A highlight of the sale will be Mansoora Hassan’s signature multi-layered mixed-media art.
You will find an extensive collection of vintage tribal textiles from India, Pakistan, Japan, Iran, and Central America, including Kantha quilts, hand-blocked fabrics, and vintage Phulkari Bagh throws.
There is a wide selection of Pakistani attire, including kurtas, kameez, robes, pantsuits, dupattas, scarves, and traditional shoes, along with trunks overflowing with vintage silks, velvets, cotton fabrics, and handmade trims collected by the family.
You will also find tribal and ethnic jewelry, including necklaces, chokers, bracelets, earrings, rings, hair combs, and barrettes.
Antique Jambiyas and Khanjars, Middle Eastern brass and copper urns, ewers, pitchers, pots, plates, serving pieces (mainly Persian), samovars (some Russian), Middle Eastern lighting and lamps, wooden boxes, Asian souvenirs, Bolivian metal and wood boxes, assorted trinkets, and African, South American, and Asian masks, sculptures, and pottery pieces.
Memorabilia from the International Olympic Committee, the Asian Games, and various national sports associations round out this diverse sale.
Finally, you can shop a large selection of porcelain, china, glassware, and onyx and alabaster ware.
Entering the sale requires crossing Massachusetts Ave and walking up a steep driveway and a flight of stairs.
Parking is prohibited on Massachusetts Ave in front of the home. Instead, respectfully park in the neighborhood (off Ramsgate Rd). Once parked, take the sidewalk on Mass Ave and cross in front of the home to access the sale.
Large bags are not permitted in the home. Bags and boxes for transporting items can be left on the porch.
