You will thoroughly enjoy our first showroom sale of this new year, 2018.  We have had many new items consigned to us for sale.  We have redone several of our "room arrangements" in order to accommodate new items, and for this sale we are offering MUCH sterling silver, MANY fur coats/jackets, and some gold items.  We have added a tall locked standing showcase to display some of these large and valuable items.

Rare items include a framed photo of "Lady and the Tramp" signed by Walt Disney.  Another is a large framed original early poster for the "Folies Bergeres" in Paris, certainly a collector's item.  Just think that Toulouse Lautrec was sketching similar people at the same time and place.  Front and center of our entry room is a large framed original watercolor of the outside of an antiques shop, done in 1984 by Donald Allen Mosher.  We have hung another watercolor by him on our "art gallery" wall, depicting a horsedrawn sledge of people in the snow.  Also rare are the face cards designed by Maxfield Parrish for decks of cards that we have (see list of dates in one of the photos).

You pocket watch collectors will be interested in the 14K gold watch we have in one of our display cases.  Other showcases have been reloaded with sterling flatware that we have spent hours polishing.  A diminutive sterling tea set with tray you will find in our new display cabinet.  Accompanying round sterling trays are in one of the display showcases along with sterling repousse flatware.

Those of you interested in military history will find 5 framed 19th century prints that just came to us.  Four are titled "New Royal Military Academy". A fifth shows the interior of soldiers' barracks.  For you men, we have 2 Stetson hats left as well as 6 black leather jackets.  We have one "lacy" black leather jacket for women along with a rack of fur jackets and coats, including one full-length Russian fox coat. We will offer the furs and leather through March.  Speaking of furs, you may enjoy the 4 New Zealand sheepskin pelts stitched together to make one large pelt for you to put our bare feet on this winter, or maybe to hang on the wall.  For you men especially, we have assembled over 50 beer steins from 5 clients.  For everyone, we have 2 Bose speaker systems (black and white), and 9 flat screen TV of many sizes.

You will find two new dining table/chair sets, both oak but a century apart.  One is light American oak, which we have set with pewter (nice look for both winter and summer).  The other is English oak stained dark with barley twist design, a very grand and imposing look.  We have added many Scan-design teak-veneered pieces.  In one of them you will find the famous blue-on-white "blue onion" pattern dinnerware.  Adjacent to them is a small collection of scotty dogs.  Just beyond that is an Asian display cabinet that we have filled with Asian pottery and porcelains.

Among the new collections are 4 balance scales of different size that we have put together in one of our "room arrangements".  We have weight sets locked up in our showcases for you.  We have filled one display case with coins from around the world as well as "first day" covers and collectors medals.  The polished bronze Ethiopian cross is there with them.

Think about the furniture you always wanted to redecorate a bedroom or living room.  We have different styles of formerly expensive and very expensive reproductions by Henkel Harris, Statton, Drexel, Wakefield, Council Craft.  They include 4-poster beds, long dressers, side chests, cabinets, highboy, Chippendale-style mirrors in mahogany and maple.  If you have been looking for brass beds, we have a pair of English twin-size beds with new mattresses.  In the Baroque style, we have a pair of dark-colored northern European beds to which we have added new twin-size mattresses.

Living in style, meaning decorating in a certain geographic and period style, is coming back, thank goodness.  Think of treating yourself to a reproduction French Provincial bookcase or French Imperial dining table/chairs.  We also have a c. 1780s English oak server and a 19th century mahogany dining table with chairs in very good condition.  For the country style, you may prefer the pine glazed cabinet that you can put your china or other collectables in.  We have decorated the newly arrived Danish modern oval dining table with "mid century modern" Czech green-printed white dinnerware.  This is in our newly rearranged area with rosewood secretary bookcase and desk.  You will find Asian ceramics on the desk and a burgundy leather side chair that fits comfortably under the desk alcove.

We also offer you high-end chairs waiting for reupholstery, all being various styles made by Colonial Williamsburg Reproductions from chairs found in 18th century mid-Atlantic states houses.  When you discover the pair of open arm chairs with carved bird in the crest, guess why we have labeled them as a "complementary pair".  They await your reupholstery.  We have just added 6 more rolls of upholstery fabric to our apparently growing collection of fabrics.  Also, we have received 19th century Asian silk embroideries to sell.  You will find them at the end of 110' linear feet of display table space that we have just redone since our December sale.

Rarely do we accept appliances for sale, but we have a brand new white side-by-side refrigerator/freezer that we picked up in emptying out a client's public storage unit.  If you want one at a very good price, this one includes ice maker, too.

We have added a huge oak double-sided shelf unit in order to display more crystal, glassware, and china that we have been given to sell.  As you look among these, think how warm coarse pottery bowls and pots would look in your place during these cold winter days.  You might fill such a bowl with fruit or nuts to enjoy while staying inside watching the opening of the winter Olympics or a football game.

The third weekend of January we will be doing a sale in a large house in Fairfax Station. This will be another opportunity for you to get out and enjoy walking through a house, this time filled with colonial reproduction items, many Asian carpets, more wonderful holiday decorations, plus a 2-car garage filled with hand and power tools, bicycles.

So plan on getting out and coming to our sales for good times.
