Description & Details
This is the second Part of a two Part sale. You do not want to miss.......Seriously!!
This sale boosts two main features which are one of a kind.
First we have a 1940's post office which was located in Kawkawlin in front of a garage. It was in use until the 1960's when the post office was relocated in a new building. We have the tellers window (complete with the original sponge and glass dish to wet the stamps), the postmasters desk to sort the rural mail and then the tower of mailboxes. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THESE THREE PIECES TOGETHER FOR HISTORICAL PURPOSES. THEY ARE BEING OFFERED AS ONE UNIT UNTIL 1:30pm FRIDAY. IF NOT SOLD BY THEN THEY WILL BE PRICED INDIVIDUALLY. These pieces are in excellent condition and were refinished by Henslers of Bay City.
Second we have a beautifully carved Victorian dresser with marble top and bed which even has carved bed rails. This set was owned by the Sea Captain Boutell of Bay City in the 1880's. The wood was lumbered from Crump and is Black Walnut. The set was commissioned by the captain to be made by Wheeler and Smith Co which was only in business for a short time. As a side note, the captains mother was the grand niece of John Q Adams.
