Bernard Davis Estate Sales is conducting an estate sale for the estate of Catherine C. Blackwell. A native of Detroit, Ms. Blackwell was an internationally recognized authority on African history and culture. She was an educator in the Detroit Public School system for nearly 40 years. She graduated from Northwestern High School and received an undergraduate degree from Howard University and a graduate degree in Education from Wayne State University.

Ms. Blackwell’s extensive African art collection has been exhibited at the Detroit Institute of Arts, Charles Wright Museum, Oakland University, Flint Public Library, and is considered to be one of the country’s best. Her collection features a rich range of compelling, artistic expressions collected throughout the African continent. Ms. Blackwell made 65 trips to 41 countries in Africa during her life beginning in 1960.
