Our 3-Day Auction this month will be on Friday, April 15th at 6:30pm EDT; Saturday, April 16th at 11am and on Sunday, April 17th at 12 noon, with the gallery opening at 11am. Our auction takes place at our gallery at 409 East Jefferson Avenue, Detroit, Michigan 48226. DuMouchelle’s auction requires no entry fee and free valet parking is available to those attending. The Auction Preview begins on Friday, April 8th and all of the items will continue to be on view throughout the auction weekend. We are always closed on Sundays and Mondays – except auction Sundays once a month.
Please check our website at www.auctiondetroit.com for additional photographs and detailed information for each of the 1,500 lots scheduled for auction each month. Condition Reports are available to those who cannot view items in person during our auction preview - beginning on Friday, April 8th. If you cannot locate the Condition Information for a particular item on our website, then you are welcome to call the gallery at 313-963-6255 or e-mail us at info@dumoart.com with a request for additional information on that lot.
DuMouchelle’s Auction Preview continues all weekend throughout our auction. Paddle bidding in person at the auction allows for the most flexibility. But if you’re unable to attend, then phone and absentee bidding services are available - as well as internet bidding via www.liveauctioneers.com. Please call the gallery at 313.963.6255 or e-mail info@dumoart.com to place bids or to secure bid forms.
DuMouchelles accepts wire transfers, checks, cash, Mastercard, Visa, Discover card and American Express (upon approval). A buyer’s premium of 22% is added to each lot purchased (23% when bidding via internet on Bidsquare and Live Auctioneers). Please note also that All Sales Are Final - so do take time for previewing or obtaining a condition report. If you have a sales tax exemption certificate, please provide it ahead of time.
Should you need to have an item shipped, either locally or out-of state, DuMouchelles can provide you with a list of reputable delivery companies. Please ask us for our recommended list of shippers, if you do not have a shipper of your own.

Friday features fine art including sculptures including after Frederic Remington “The Mountain Man”, after Charles Marion Russell (American 1864-1926) sculpture of a Native American. Alexander Buchan [American, 20th C.]. A bronze sculpture of a driver in a race car. Oil paintings of Native Americans by Harold Yeiter and more. Fine jewelry including a 0.60 natural ruby and 0.42 ct diamond heart form necklace. Garber 1.00 ct and 18kt yellow gold hoop earrings and a 14kt white gold and 1.18 ct diamond ring. Furniture items including a Skandia mahogany secretary, French mahogany curio cabinet and a wrought iron and marble console to name a few. Rugs, runners and carpets including Turkish, Indian and Persian. Firearms including a Ruger “Super Blackhawk” .44 magnum revolver, a Llame 1 “Especial” .32 cal. semi-automatic pistol. A Pennsylvania Rifle Works .40 cal. rifle, c1850. Finally a Japanese Katana WWII enlisted man’s sword. A collection of U.S. gold coins including $20.00 ‘Walking Liberty’/’Flying Eagle’. A $10.00 ‘Liberty Head’/’Eagle’ coin and a $2.50 Indian Chief ‘Walking Eagle’ gold coin. A grouping of Chinese carved figures including a carved jade reclining figure, 23” L and a jade standing figure, 13” H. Fine porcelain and pottery pieces including Royal Doulton, Weller, Flow blue, Wedgwood, Chinese rose medallion and others. A collection of African, Inut and Pre-Columbian carved wood, stone and terracotta figures. Finally, a book collection of fine leather bound sets including: William Makepeace Thackery novels, 26 volumes and a Rudyard Kipling, 25 volume set of novels.
Saturday, April 16th
Presenting the Meissen porcelain collection of Dr. Marion Scott and Ann Scott of Grosse Pointe Shores, Murano glass and antique English furniture from a Grosse Pointe Farms lady, and property from several local, private collections. The sale commences with antique Meissen and French boxes, followed by Libbey overlay glass, gold and enamel decorated Murano glass, including ruby red stemware and tableware. A stately repousse silver ewer by S. Kirk & Son of Baltimore, mid 19th c., a set of three 18th century English sterling meat platters, a set of Ortega service plates, Tuttle “Onslow” centerpiece bowl, and flatware sets by Wallace and International; Meissen “Dragon” dessert ware and serving pieces; crystal stemware by St. Louis, Josair, and Waterford; Steuben and Lalique tableware; Chinese silk robes, Export porcelain, jade and hardstone carvings; Japanese Imari floor urn with a gilded hawk finial, Edo period; and an antique English triple fusee cathedral skeleton clock standing 21” high. Additionally 18th–early 19th century mahogany chests, secretary bookcases, tables, and pairs of chairs, alongside modern pieces such as a sculptured metal chair by Paul Evans for Directional Furniture, an Alfred Kill grasshopper chaise, and other pieces by Paul McCobb, Robsjohn-Giddings, Milo Baughman, and Ron Arad. Fine jewelry offers a pair of 10.75ct sapphire earrings, a Concord 18kt gold and diamond lady’s watch, and a 19ct aquamarine ring—over 100 lots to peruse.

Featuring a well over 200 item collection of fine art from European and American 18th, 19th, 20th century and contemporary artists highlighted with works by: Pietro Barucci, J. E. H. MacDonald, Carl Redin, Nicola Simbari, Anthony Thieme, Carl Lawless, William Silva, Maurice Braun, Leonardo Nierman, Mark di Suvero, Romare Bearden, Bob Bennett, George de Forest Brush, Michael Coleman, Marta Sappel, Douglas Arthur Teed, Enrique Miralles, Luis Alvarez Catala, Robert Wood, Howard Logan Hildebrandt, Thornton Utz, Jacques Lipchitz and Robert Hopkin - also old master works attributed to Abraham Bloemaert and Nicolaes Berchem.
