The Saturday sale opens with the art glass collection of a Dearborn Heights lady including Steuben, Tiffany, Thomas Webb, Galle, and Stumpf, Touvier & Violette; a Tiffany Studios counter balance desk lamp, and Handel reverse painted and leaded glass lamps, one of which features a view of Mt. Fuji painted by John Bailey. From a Grosse Pointe Farms estate, Italian marble busts, a pair of Bohemian glass portrait urns, French furniture, and beautiful mid19th-early 20th century sterling silver including a pair of sauce boats by William Forbes for Ball, Tompkins & Black. Antique French and Austrian furniture, such as an impressively carved bed purported to have belonged to the Archduke of Austria, Sunderland lustre and 19th century glass from a private collection, East Lansing; Chinese and Japanese porcelains, carved jade and ivory from a Bloomfield Hills gentleman; and from a West Bloomfield lady, Chinese and Japanese porcelains, Lalique and Steuben. Larsen, Robert Motherwell, Frank Stella, John Baughman, Ellsworth Kelly, Trevor Bell, Knoll and furniture designed by or inspired by Mies van der Rohe, Eileen Gray, N. Eilersen, Jens Risom, Harry Bertoia, Eero Saarinen, Poul Kjaerholm, Paola Piva and more. Furniture from other collections includes pieces by Herman Miller and Axi as well as a large group of British 18th c. Additional modern art from a Brighton, MI collection including works by Michaelangelo Pistoletto, Robert Rauscheberg, Karel Appel, Elliot Daingerfield, Richard Lindner, Robert Indiana as well as a 17th c. painting by Jan Dirksz Both.
