![46.) Ca 1880's Pink and Gold Brocade Reception Gown. Per Wikipedia, "Starting in 1889,[1] Clarkson's company supplied costumes and wigs used in the amateur dramatic productions of Queen Victoria's family and circle.[6] He provided the wigs for the princesses who were attending the fancy-dress Devonshire House Ball of 1897, and visited Buckingham Palace beforehand to arrange their hair.[6]Edward VII appointed him "Royal Perruquier and Costumier."[5]" William Clarkson was also a Jack the Ripper suspect. Gown is labeled: W. Clarkson, Perruquier& Costumer, 41-43 Wardour St, London W. I cannot read the top of the label, Royal crest is on the label. Gown is trimmed in lace and pearls (faux?) and has applied flowers. Slight shattering under left arm. Slight train. A few spots on bodice. Measures: shoulder to shoulder 14", Bust 34", Waist 28", Length 58".](https://picturescdn.estatesales.net/3799956/151773841/1-t.jpg)
