House of Memories Estate Services
Description & Details
10-18-23
We have the very unique privilege of working with two wonderfully respected and locally known artists here in Kalamazoo! This estate was the long time home of Frances (Fran) Platske, who was known for her artwork depicting Michigan and US lighthouses, as well as birds, barns, and other subjects. She was the adopted daughter of a lighthouse keeper on Lake Superior, and her ingrained love of everything "lighthouse" became her passion later in life as she captured many local lighthouses and coastal scapes in watercolor. This estate sale will feature hundreds of her original pieces, both framed and unframed, finished and unfinished.
This love of artful expression was passed down to her daughter, Susan Teague. Susan is a locally renown artist with her own passions and mode of expression. She is best known for her more than 9,000 sq.ft. of murals in the new Bronson Children's Hospital. She has several of her pieces available at this sale, both newer pieces, as well as early work dating from before she was married. This sale will be a great opportunity for you to discover several pieces for yourself, originally done by both Susan and Fran.
Artwork won't be the only thing found at this sale...there are three floors in the house, and the garage and barn out back...and they're all FULL!
