Description & Details
Our client moved into this 1951 bungalow as a newlywed in 1953. After 63 years of raising her family and living a full life in this house, you can imagine the accumulation of old, interesting, unique and wonderful items that are still in this home. It has taken us over a month to prepare this home for a sale due to the quantity of items. And 90% of them are vintage! Here are some of the fantastic finds!
Collectibles: Schmidt teepee table light, Schwinn Sting Ray turn signal tail light, CNR railroad lantern, 1908 sterling overlay flask, Tonka sand loader, McCoy dog and cat treat jars with bells, 2 executive cigar lighters, 3 gallon salt glaze Red Wing crock
Furniture: 2 piece Arts & Crafts buffet salvaged from the family’s Iowa farmhouse, Arts & Crafts rocker, childs cedar chest, vintage Gabbert’s tea cart, numerous end tables, maple kitchen table, lots of chairs and dressers, fantastic mid-century flying saucer table lamp, needlepoint vanity stool, Arts and Crafts desk, 3 tier lawyer’s bookcase
Auto stuff: 1949 Motor Trend First Issue: Vol 1, #1, 1973 Jeep services manual, 1976 Auto repair manual, pair bullet side view mirrors, gas/brake/clutch pedal assembly, hubcaps, 2 racing fuel pit dump cans, Corvair spring set, 2 pairs grease cap covers, fiberglass kit car bucket seat, 2 old rearview mirrors
Other interesting items: Whitehall sparkly white snare drum, old glass syringes, dried seahorses, 2 boxes of Esterbrook nibs, Playskool Vacationland set (quite hard to find), Ohaus set of weights, antique balance scale, Singer wood dome top sewing machine, antique fabric printing blocks, HUGE stamp collection including the first duck stamp, 22 pound sad iron, 6 old milk cans, 2 pairs vintage cowboy boots – 1 new in the box, loads of linens
Books: Hundreds of old books, 100 cookbooks, 1897, 1899 and 1900 Gopher Yearbooks, and our favorite – Corky the Killer! Look that one up – it’s fascinating!
Sportsman stuff: old Muskie lures, Fenwick PLP 56 fishing rod, some reels, Mohawk minnow bucket, 2 wooden bows, leather quiver, brass shot/powder flask, Lyman Reloading handbook, Speer manual, Gren Tec Pro Am aluminum skateboard, 2 pair antique Klipper Klub skates
Kitchen items: Red Wing Oomph bowls, Griswold griddle, Wagner, Corning ware, Pyrex, Texasware, stoneware bowls, tons of old kitchen utensils, giant copper hand forged cookie cutters (including a cat!), baskets of old cookie cutters, large copper tea kettle and 3 smaller ones, Spry measuring cup, old Foster meat cleaver, a box full of Sterling spoons, 10 boxes of $1 dishes and pots and pans, Hoosier spice jars and coffee and tea jars
Tools: a crazy amount of tools, including lots of Craftsman, vintage Shop Smith, Craftsman red toolbox, nice fairly new shop vac, interesting timers – the guy was a chemist and there are things here that we believe had to do with his work!
And so much more! One of our best sales ever! Two things we need to convey: The house is quite small and very packed, so please be patient as you are waiting to get in. And two, this house is located on a dead end, so the parking is very limited. And please be careful not to block the neighbors driveways!
We hope to see you!
