Some lives are difficult to summarize, and J.W. and his wife certainly seem to have lived that way. Both were artists, J.W. spent part of his career in law enforcement, they ran a private investigation company together, and somewhere along the way they both managed to add professional wrestling to the résumé. Their life together was a wild adventure - and with the loss of J.W., his wife is now ready to make space for the next chapter.

Once you know a little of their story, the remarkable range of things throughout this home starts to make sense. Art has long been part of their lives, and the sale includes a substantial body of original work by J.W. alongside artwork collected over many years. Their interests ranged from the American West and wildlife to history, folk traditions and cultures from around the world, with much of their art and collecting rooted in a genuine appreciation and celebration of the cultures, traditions and people that captured their imagination.

Making was just as important as collecting. Throughout the sale you'll find the materials and equipment of people who liked to create, explore, and experiment. The garage in particular is packed with art glass, mosaic materials, artist supplies and specialized equipment alongside power tools, hand tools and a workshop full of materials for whatever project came next.

Beyond the art and creative materials, the sale wanders in all sorts of directions. There are Western collections, vintage and antique books, folk art from around the world, pottery, birdhouses, quilts and textiles, music, movies, gaming, furniture, decorative objects and plenty of things that don't fit comfortably under any heading.

This isn't a collection built around one era, one style or one pursuit. It's a glimpse into lives that went in a lot of directions — sometimes all at once — and a sale where looking closely is half the fun.
