Atop the Mississippi bluff in St Paul's West Side Riverview neighborhood (above the Wabasha Caves) sits one of Cass Gilbert's early designs. The sale in this historic home consists of antiques and treasures collected by Dr Mark Thomas and the late John C Neess. A portion of the proceeds will go to Historic Saint Paul. The balance will be used to develop a plan for the house's preservation and future use as a public site, dedicated to preservation, public health, and public policy.
Offerings include: Yamaha C3 grand piano with ebony finish, Firth & Hall spinet piano c. 1830, stately Victorian secretary, oak Arts & Crafts buffet, American Sheraton sideboard c. 1790, oak Arts & Crafts trestle table, oak dining table, carved hall tree, Victorian carved walnut bed, table and chest of drawers, Empire mahogany bed, oak Victorian three quarter bed, pair of Carved polichrome mirrors, and set of vintage Prairie Style stained glass windows. Chests of drawers, chairs & occasional tables, plant stands, bookcases, wooden trunk, collection of African masks, vintage maps art pottery, oil paintings & watercolors, posters, Oriental rugs, light fixtures (including kerosene lamps, bridge lamps, Arts & Crafts style lamps, and hanging fixtures), pendulum clocks and Victorian mirrors.
