Description & Details

We are liquidating the personal property of the Living Estate of LaVerna B. Thornberry, a long time resident of Carthage. Mrs. Thornberry liked lots of kinds of things, enjoyed bringing things home when she travelled, and apparently saved everything she brought home. Things are in very good condition, and many are in original boxes
You will find this one to be both a collector’s sale and a “giftables” sale… just in time for some early Christmas shopping. There are some really unusual period pieces, and as always, there are some “typical household” items, some vintage pieces, some retro, and some “I remember …” or “I used to have…” or “I always wished I could have had…” things. In between are bunches of things that are just plain useful for your household, a family member, or that friend you’re helping out.

Partial listing:
Costume Jewelry, including vintage and period pieces, turquoise, Mexican silver, carved “ivory look” bone, novelty and military pieces, and more. Necklaces, chains, pendants, bracelets, earrings, watches, pins. I’m sure I’m forgetting something!

Carthage, Joplin, and other area memorabilia. WW2 era memorabilia. “Event” newspapers.

Vintage Postcards, vintage photographs. (Just a few of these) also some vintage horse head prints/posters.

Basketry – all shapes and sizes. Some useful (silverware, organizers, etc.) some decorative, and some that make great containers for gift giving. Ours are cheaper than those silly “decorator” bags at the store, and you score great “originality” points for wrapping in them!

Unique and one-of-a-kind marble (onyx?) Let’s say “Polished stone” oval coffee table on gracefully ornate wrought iron base. And we “found” it under stuff in the living room!

Ceramic Chess and checkers tabletop set with matching handcrafted board. We also have 2 Mexican onyx carved chess sets, one in an ornate handcrafted 2 drawer board/chest.

French style with brass trim side cabinet – a slender piece with 2 drawers and 2 shelves. A great display piece for that small spot where nothing seems to fit.

“Jeweled Lady” vintage flower pots – Inarco, Napcoware. Good condition

A huge amount of ceramic figurines. If you collect by maker, we have Lladro, Lefton, Otagiri, Depose, Laura Modes, Kasuga, Armart and more. If you collect by type, we have dogs, cats, elephants, donkeys, horses, children, florals, Period dressed figures, clowns, miniatures of classic sculptures, etc. Check out the online pics to get an idea of the quantity and diversity of choices!
