Description & Details
This week’s auction reaches a little farther back into history than usual, with another group of antique black powder firearms crossing the block. One especially interesting French example carries a manufacturer date from the Napoleonic era — the sort of piece worth a closer look for anyone interested in early firearms, military history, or simply objects with a couple centuries behind them.
We also have more of the signed record collection we introduced last week. The same disclaimer applies: these are selling as is, where is. Some have COAs, although not from the major authentication organizations, while others have no authentication at all. Some will probably prove authentic and some probably won’t. Take a look, do some research, follow your gut, and bid accordingly. Either way, it’s an interesting group of records and signatures to dig through.
There’s quite a bit of movie-related material this week, too, including posters, lobby cards, press photos and more, along with sterling and costume jewelry, coins, vintage toys, gas & oil items, advertising, beer and liquor related pieces, signs, artwork, militaria, music related items, sports memorabilia, designer bags, photos and ephemera, and vintage video game systems. One of my favorites this week is a fantastic vintage Mack truck front grille, complete with the bulldog — a great piece of old industrial/automotive Americana and just plain cool.
Around the rest of the room you’ll find a couple of nice pieces of furniture, HAM and other radio type items, midcentury items, lamps and lighting, glass, porcelain, china, art pottery, ammunition, tools and plenty more mixed in. As usual, it’s one of those auctions where the categories only tell part of the story, and there’s plenty buried among the preview photos worth finding for yourself.
📸 Preview: Wednesday, 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
🚪 Doors Open: Thursday at 5:00 PM
🔨 Auction Starts: Thursday at 6:00 PM
And one more thing before you make other plans for Sunday: we’re back on Whatnot with a special vintage MAD Magazine auction! We’ll have MAD magazines from the 1970s and ’80s and more, live Sunday, August 30 at 6:00 PM CST on Whatnot at @atakc. If Alfred E. Neuman, Spy vs. Spy and several decades of beautifully stupid American satire are your thing, come hang out with us Sunday afternoon.
We’ll see you Thursday — and hopefully Sunday, too!
