Description & Details
This is going to be really fun with a rare chance to go into an older style building in the central west end. People who live in the neighborhood didnt even notice it before these ads went up!! Their loss and your gain.
From a board member who owns the building:
The Learning Center was built in 1908 by The Wednesday Club of St. Louis, a women's organization, for its first permanent home.
The building was designed by Theodore Link, who also designed Union Station and many other buildings in the region.
It was a departure for Link, in that it is in the new Arts & Crafts/Prairie style of the time.
The Wednesday Club moved to West County in the early '70's and the building was purchased for use as a center of education workshops, training and classes.
It is currently being prepared for updating and re-purposing as a community cultural/life-long learning facility.
There are TONS of old book as well as craft or education supplies for all ages. Lots of other stuff, including a full kitchen, some lab equipment, and several tools for pottery making, etc. Very interesting fun sale.
This listing will update the week of the sale, just before, so please check back!
Sale will be
Saturday 9-3
Sunday 10-3
We ARE doing our 1 pm bag sale!!! We will ask everyone to leave the building at 12:55 and then let them back in at 1pm for a $5 fill-a-bag sale where anything goes in a bag for only $5!!!!
