Description & Details

You will not want to miss this gorgeous estate sale in Frontenac on Portland Drive (off Geyer Road).  The house is coming on the market soon--realtor info will be available at the estate sale.  Included in the sale are many classic, traditional items.  Below is a room-by-room SUMMARY, but please be sure to look at the photos which include much detail.  (Please note:  no items will be sold prior to the weekend event--everything photographed and offered must be available to everyone.)

There is quite a selection of art throughout the house.  Included are pieces by:  Siegfried Reinhardt; M. Charles Reinhard; Chiara Moerschel; Dennis Olsen; Maurice Levis; and many others.  Some is photographed in the ad; but there was too much to do a single photo of every piece---so please come see it all for yourself. 

-PLEASE follow the directional signs on Portland Drive so that parking is consistent and cars face the proper direction.  There are NO PARKING signs on the east side of the street near the house and on both sides of the street around a blind curve.  Frontenac Police will be patrolling the area.

-Entry will be a the front door; check-out and exit will be in the garage.

-Entry will be limited; so please be patient.  There will be two cashiers to expedite the check-out process.

Living Room:  This is an overview of the very elegant, classic furnishings.  Closer photos follow.Living Room:  A KRAVET 75" neutral color sofa with duck down has detached back and seat cushions.  Its coordinating 63" sofa is nearby.  The tilt-top table and one-drawer table flanking the sofa and its decor are also for sale.  Closer photos follow.Living Room:  This original art on canvas is signed by the artist.  The signature looks like  "S. Griby."  It measures 42" x 39."  The art light is included in the price.Living Room:  This unusual brass swan and silver base table is gorgeous!  Notice the four swan bodies embracing the upper glass, and the lower webbed feet supporting the table.  It also has a smaller glass shelf under the table top.  Its total measurement from the back of the swans' heads to the table edge is 42" x 30."Living Room:  An antique tilt-top table displays a porcelain plate on stand and other decor.Living Room:  This antique one-drawer table has beautiful banding around the table top and drawer (the top also has a string banded oval).  The antique IMARI bowl rests on a decorative wooden stand.Living Room:  This antique Georgian style secretary/bookcase is a very handsome piece.  It has two glass panel doors over four interior shelves; a slant front; and five lower drawers.  It measures 44" wide x 21" deep x 91" tall.  Displayed inside are many antique books, two Chinese mud men, and a couple of Asian plates on stands. The next photo shows the interior behind the slant front.Living Room:  This vintage four drawer (two real/two faux) drum table has a book-match mahogany top which is protected by a glass top.  Living Room:  A large fine quality hooked area rug has a floral design [with a center oval medallion] and subtle pastel colors.  It measures 13’  3"  x  11'  7."Living Room:  A Chippendale-style wingback in  neutral upholstery is to the left of an antique one-drawer table with bow front.  Also shown are numerous pieces of art; a crystal lamp; two brass boxes; and a vintage (1969) "Austin" sculpture of a baby (on the floor under the table).Please note.Foyer:  A flip-top game table with center inlay displays an antique book rack with newer books. The art on the wall is a trio of Tuscan drawings.Foyer:  This petite clock is 78" tall.  The case appears to be old but it has been electrified.  Inside is a "Telechron Motor Model M31, Emerson Clock Co."Family Room:  This room is in between the formal living room and the step-down dining room.  The 80" off-white sofa (by "Southwood") is trimmed in raspberry cording and has detached seat and back cushions.  The butler table is one piece.  Closer photos of the other items follow. Family Room:  A reproduction of an antique desk on a stand is to the left of a  "Redwood Plaid" occasional chair with matching ottoman.  Also shown is an eclectic group of artwork, books, duck decoys, and more.Family Room:  Two vintage wooden duck decoys carved out of juniper wood are from Harkers Island in the outer banks of North Carolina.  The antique cast iron door stop is a horse drawn coach.Family Room:  A petite sideboard with a brass galley has two drawers.  It is to the left of a raspberry/bird theme embroidered wingback chair.  Family Room:  Two metal sculptures by the artist "James Garner" flank two pieces of art by the artist Ward H. Nichols.Family Room:  A signed/numbered abstract piece (1978) by artist Dennis Olsen hangs above an antique bow-front three-drawer chest (35” wide x 19” deep x 36” tall). The lamp and liqueur set (see next photo) are also for sale.Family Room:  An extraordinary set of MOSER liqueur glasses are in its original case.  There are several different patterns.Family Room-Wet Bar:  Two M. Charles Rhinehart original pieces of art hang on the wall.  They are flanked by glass shelves of crystal (Baccarat, Riedel, Waterford, Tiffany & Co., and others).  A four decanter Tantalus and a glass V.P. 1985 champagne bucket are among other barware on the counter.Family Room:  An antique game table displays a WATERORD crystal photo frame, small glasses, and a decanter.  The abstract art above is by "Barbara Glenberg."Family Room:  A three volume set of Richmond family records (1933) is priced separately from the other Richmond family history book.Living Room:  This is the interior of the antique Georgian secretary/bookcase.  Notice the shallow drawers and "cubbies." Family Room:  Two sets of heavy brass andirons are each priced. They are both by HARVIN for Virginia Metalcrafters.Family Room:   A 54" long Chippendale-style sofa table includes heavy carving on the apron. The metal tole planter is also for sale.Family Room:  A large raspberry color area rug measures 14'  8"  x  10'  9."Dining Room:  The two-tone dining room table with banding is shown with two of its pedestal bases BUT there is another base and three leaves!  As shown it measures  47" x 76," but the additional pedestal and three leaves (26" + 26" + 38") can extend it to a maximum of  almost 14 feet! The next photo shows the table top without any china on it.Dining Room:  This is a view of the table top [with no leaves] before it was set for guests. Notice the subtle banding.  Dining Room:  This is the additional pedestal and the three leaves to the dining table previously shown. The hardware to connect the pieces is included.Dining Room:  Lenox china in the "Barclay" pattern of cobalt blue and gold has service for six:  6 dinner; 6 salad; 6 dessert; 6 soup; 6 soup under-plates or use them has bread and butter; 6 coffee cups; and 6 saucers, 42 pieces.  An additional incomplete set is on the server and priced separately.Dining Room:  One of a pair of armless chairs is to the left of a vintage tray on stand.  The original art is unsigned and measures 61" x 61." Dining Room:  This original art by Missouri artist M. Charles Rhinehart measures 48" x 32," including the frame.Dining Room:  A media cabinet displays several pieces of electronic equipment:  NAD stereo receiver; Sony 5- disc player; Philips CD recorder; Kenwood CD player; and a Sony CD player. To the right is a pair of FISCHER XP-56 stereo speakers.  The SCHATZ Royal Mariner wall clock and sign are also for sale. More electronics are in the lower level.Dining Room:  Two separately priced gooseneck arm chairs flank a small tilt-top table.  Dining Room:  A large piece of original art (48" x 38") by Missouri artist Chiara Moerschel hangs above an antique drop leaf table (see next photo of base); a silver-plate/crystal lamp; a brass squirrel trivet; an Asian-theme plate on stand; and a heavy brass vessel (great for a plant or kindling wood).  To the left is an etching and a faux plant on a fern stand.Dining Room:  This is the table base of the drop-leaf table previously shown.  Notice the heavy carving on the column and the hairy paw legs. (It is on casters.)Dining Room:  Silver-plate trays, champagne bucket, and a large dome are among BACCARAT and ST. LOUIS crystal stems and other silver-plate.Dining Room:  A 28" tall  statue titled "Bird Girl" stands between the two display tables.Dining Room:  More silver-plate, BACCARAT crystal stems, and LENOX are among demitasse cups and lidded chocolate pots.Dining Room:   An original signed piece by Missouri artist M. Charles Rhinehart (a closer photo follows) hangs above an antique dry sink. Also shown are a pair of candlesticks/hurricanes and a brass planter.Dining Room:  More silver-plate and crystal are displayed for you.  Think holiday decorating!Dining Room:  A vintage HENREDON sideboard (72" x 23" x 37" tall) with banding has one center drawer and two side doors.  The china on the left is LENOX "Bellevue" (see next photo).    The china on the right side is the same Lenox "Barclay" china that is displayed on the dining room table.  This set includes 8 dinner plates; 9 salad plates; 8 bread & butter plates; 6 coffee cups; and six saucers.  The vintage wall mirror is also for sale. Dining Room:  This LENOX "Bellevue" china includes 8 dinner plates; 8 salad plates; 6 bread & butter plates; 8 saucers; 8 cups, for a total of 38 pieces.Den:  This is an overview of the "smalls area" in this room.  There is:  jewelry; sterling flatware; crystal; sterling mint julep cups; silver-plate; signed baseballs; numerous Limoges trinket boxes; Herend; Baccarat; and more!  Closer photos follow.Den:  Beautiful pottery on the top shelf is by the artist  "Mueller;" the pottery on the lower three shelves is by the artist  Brian VanNostrand, a West Virginia potter.  VanNostrand uses a variety of clays that he finds on his farm and near areas.   He uses time-consuming processes, so his production is limited.  You won't find much of his work available in other places. Den:  The top shelf displays a 6" Val St. Lambert vase and a 6" signed art glass vase, both flanking a sterling silver plate.  The next two shelves display glass animal sculptures by the mid-century artist Roberto Moretti.  And, the lower shelf has two silver-plate salters; a silver-plate tray with six different [individually priced] sterling mint julep cups; and a small art glass plaque.Den:  A pair of sterling candelabras flank a vintage brass Tiffany & Co. clock.  The second shelf has sterling plates; art glass (one is Steuben); and an antique Chinese tea caddy/tobacco jar.  The third shelf displays a sterling gravy boat with under-plate; a sterling round plate; and a sterling compote--all flanking a quadruple plate tea set.  The fourth shelf has a crystal SWAROVSKI swan under a dome; sterling bud vases on a silver-plate galley tray; and a small Dresden figure under a dome.  (Note:  All sterling is priced above scrap and has been removed from the sale to be returned Saturday morning.)Den:   The fourth section shows CAVAN crystal baseballs near two signed baseballs (one undated by Bob Forsch; one by Ken Forsch [1979] AND Bob Forsch [1983]; a vintage unicorn lighter; and ashtray.  The second shelf: an antique rosewood tea caddy in a sarcophagus design and a Victorian Tunbridge inlaid box.   In the center of the boxes is a replica Greek geometric round lidded box.  The third shelf: glass paperweights; crystal perfume bottle; an 18th century Toddy Lifter; a silver-plate sugar shaker; and a silver-plate biscuit caddy.  The lower shelf has a faux pearl  necklace with 14K gold flower (a closer photo follows);  six silver-plate mint julep cups on a silver-plate galley tray; and a turquoise necklace.Den:  This is a closer photo of the necklace that is displayed in the cabinet.  It's a double strand of faux pearls with a14K gold flower clasp which has a center diamond surrounded by rubies.
