Basement: Two individually priced mid-century modern saucer chairs (as is) with tapered walnut legs are paired with a set of two 1950's blonde step-back tables. Also shown is a separately priced blonde coffee table which has one drawer. In between the two saucer chairs is a bird cage which comes with some accessories and there different cloth covers. Basement: Five military uniforms hang above a metal foot locker, a series of aviation photos (closer photo coming up), and a yellow 1950's parachute. Basement: My client's father was in the U.S. Air Force. She believes this series of photos is a payload of instrumentation attached to one of the helium balloons that her father's group launched to study Venus, the moon, etc. It may have been taken at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, where the Balloon Branch was located in the mid-1960s. The typewritten note attached states "project Bal-Ast, the Johns Hopkins University Laboratory of Astrophysics." Flight 2/21/64, water vapor measured on Venus. Flight 10/28/64, Venus' clouds identified.Basement: A brown vintage metal desk displays a round canister shoe shine kit; shoe brushes; a thermos; some office supplies, and a vintage red BAKELITE radio. Basement: Various military theme items are on the shelving rack beneath a photo of jet fighters. When my client's father retired, his team members signed the photo so there are numerous autographs on the mat frame. Also shown are two parachute canopies. Closer photos are coming up of those real soon.We took the round green camouflage parachute canopy outside to check its size. We wanted to spread it out on the grass but it was early in the morning and the grass was too wet, so we opened it (as much as we could) on the driveway. It is huge!!!! It is a CARGO parachute. Without pulling it tight to keep it off of the grass, we measured it to be about 40 feet in diameter. There are tie downs around it and a designed hole in the middle (photo coming up). My client believes her father used this cargo chute in the early 1960's when landing the instrumentation from the balloons that were launched in the projects he worked on for the U.S. Air Force.
