Inventory of Rugs to be Auctioned May 19, 2017

 

Stevens Auction Company is pleased to announce its commission to offer at public auction several prominent estates from across the South. Friday nights auction will consist of over 250 pieces of antique and semi antique Persian and oriental rugs, such as kashan, Tabriz, Heriz, Serapi, and Oushak. All colors and sizes from 3x5 and up to 12x18 and larger will be sold along with runners in all sizes, all are handmade 100% wool pile rugs. This is one of the best selections we have ever had the privilege to offer. This is truly your chance to get the rug of your choice at the price you want to pay.

 Saturday's session of the auction includes the estate of Dr. Claude Ogelsby of Memphis, TN, along with some of the original furnishings from Riverview Mansion ca. 1850 in Columbus, and the remaining antique items from several warehouses belonging to Norvell and Betsy Williams of Starkville.  We will also be selling select items from estates in Atlanta, Gadsden, AL and Aberdeen, Ms.  Also included are items such as large rosewood half tester plantation beds, full tester plantation beds, oversize secretary, hundreds of 18th & 19th Century Chinese porcelains, Old Paris, Sevres, and Royal Dux, antique lighting, china, clocks, old books, collection of brilliant cut glass, antique cars, motorcycles, trailers, and other automobiles. There will be hundreds of other pieces of southern finery and home furnishings by such cabinet makers as J.H. Belter, C. Lee, A. Roux, R.J. Horner, & Francis Signoret.
