The Estate Auction at Lauri Mundi

Saturday, August 8, 2015, 9 a.m. CST,

on location at 309 S. Matubba Street, Aberdeen, MS 39730.

Stevens Auction Company is pleased to announce the commission to sell at public auction the contents of one of Mississippi’s most important antebellum homes, Lauri Mundi, ca. 1847.  Due to failing health, the present owner, Dr. Frank Nichols has reluctantly decided to sell his dream home.  It is nestled in a beautiful eighteen acre sanctuary in the heart of historic Aberdeen. There are many pieces in the collection that have been passed down through its four owners over the past 167 years.  Along with Dr. Nichols collection, we will be selling select pieces from Morganza, LA, Jackson, TN. and Tiptonville, TN.  We will also be selling part of a large art collection from Dallas, TX which includes a rare and one of a kind, authentic mixed media, Andy Warhol of Coco Chanel, a Marc Chagall original lithograph, along with other Victorian works of art.  This auction takes place at a Mississippi landmark well worth a drive, if only for the open house.

This auction will contain hundreds of rare items such as antique furniture, grandfather clocks and other old clocks, handmade Persian rugs, original works of art, brilliant cut glass, hand painted porcelains, 19th Century lighting, sterling, china, breath taking mantle mirrors, exquisite pier mirrors, half tester and full tester beds, rosewood wardrobes and hundreds of other pieces of Southern finery.

We have two open house dates.  The Sunday open house will be August 2, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Our Friday open house will be August 7, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
