Description & Details

The Team is pleased and honored to be asked to do this Estate Sale at the Historic Paint Hill Farm former home of Elizabeth "Buffie" Stevenson Ives. This historic house was rebuilt upon being struck by lightning and burning to the ground. The Ives search all over North and South Carolina and Georgia to historically rebuilt and furnish the house. Since her death at the age of 96 the house has been used as a family get away on the nearly 300 acre farm. The furniture in this house is of the period and as well as modern conveniences.

Mrs. Ives was the sister of the former Govenor Adlai Stevenson II of Illinois, and she served as his official hostess while in the Govenor's Mansion.

While they are many items of interest, one is the childhood desk of Adlai Stevenson which has his signature on the inkwell drawer. Second is an oil portrait of Nancy Young Brevard Stevenson - b.1774 - d.1841. Thirdly many autographed copies of books written by family and friends.
