THE SWEET COLLECTION

Music, Art & Mid-Century Treasures from Matthew & Lisa Sweet

SALE DATES - Friday, October 23 - 3-6pm; Saturday October 24 and Sunday October 25 - 10-4pm

We are honored to present The Sweet Collection, an extraordinary sale celebrating the music, creativity, and remarkable personal collection of acclaimed singer, songwriter, and musician Matthew Sweet and his wife, Lisa. A Nebraska native, Matthew helped define the alternative rock sound of the 1990s with iconic hits including Girlfriend, I've Been Waiting, and Sick of Myself. In October 2024, Matthew suffered a devastating stroke while on tour, beginning a long and challenging journey of recovery. This special event offers an opportunity to celebrate his extraordinary career and creative spirit while providing meaningful support to Matthew and Lisa as they navigate this next chapter.

The sale features an exceptional and eclectic collection reflecting the couple's distinctive tastes, artistic interests, and passion for collecting. Music enthusiasts will discover an extensive collection of musical instruments and equipment, including guitars, a drum set, an Emmons pedal steel guitar, and other treasures from Matthew's musical life.

Collectors of mid-century modern design will find an impressive selection of iconic Witco carved wood furniture, tiki sculptures, and wall art; an Adrian Pearsall Brutalist "Goop" dining table and chairs; striking C. Jeré metal sculptures; and a spectacular vintage Hollywood Regency round-bed ensemble. Additional highlights include signed and numbered Harry Wysocki dimensional artworks, sculptural art glass, Russell Wright American Modern dinnerware, vintage tiki collectibles, and distinctive decorative furnishings.

Art has long been a shared passion for Matthew and Lisa, who are well known for their extensive and carefully curated collection of "Big Eyes" artwork. This sale offers a rare opportunity to explore that passion firsthand, featuring limited-edition prints by Margaret Keane, vintage Keane figurines, and works by artists including Bollini, Abruzzi, Roth, and Oz Franca. The collection reflects the couple's deep appreciation for this distinctive artistic movement and their enthusiasm for collecting and preserving its history.

More than a sale, The Sweet Collection is a celebration of Matthew's remarkable musical legacy, his creative spirit, and the artistic passions he and Lisa have shared. We invite fans, collectors, and the community to experience this extraordinary collection, discover something truly special, and join us in supporting Matthew and Lisa as he continues his recovery.
