Terms

No pre-sales. Cash only. All items sold as-is, and no returns. We reserve the right to not sell any item. No restroom on site. Anyone showing up early on Friday may start a list if they stay with it, but it's really not necessary as we can let in a large number of people at once.

Stan's Square Records, run by Stan Krause, opened in Jersey City in 1965, moved to the Bergen Ave location in the late 1970s and was in business for over 50 years. Stan was also a record producer, putting out a few dozen doo wop, soul, and hiphop records from the 1960s-1990s on his own Catamount Records and other labels. Stan sadly passed away in 2016, and the store never had a proper closeout sale.  Many thousands of vinyl records (both LPs and 45s), CDs (many still sealed), DVDs, cassettes, posters, magazines, and more will be sold over 3 days at bargain basement prices. On Friday -- please note later start time and evening hours -- pricing will be $1 per item, on Saturday it drops to 2 for a dollar, and Sunday will be 4 for a dollar. Some non-media items such as store fixtures, stereo equipment, musical instruments, etc, are not included in this pricing, but will be sold for any reasonable offer.

Many records at the sale were stored in previously off-limits areas and are available to the public for the first time at this sale.  Still sealed, new copies are available of a number of Stan's releases including Fourteen Karat Soul's "Lovers Fantasy" LP on Catamount from 1977 and Chill Divine's "Puttin' It Wildly / Long Live The Lyrical" 12" on Square Records from 1990 (Listen on YouTube). Both these titles cost $10+ elsewhere, but like every record at the sale are included in the $1 or less pricing as noted above. New, unplayed copies are available of a number of 45s on Catamount and other labels including Phil L.A. Of Soul, Jamie, Carnival, House of the Fox and more.

Buyers coming from NYC can take the PATH train to Journal Square and walk about 10 minutes. Cabs are also available from Journal Square, or Uber/Lyft/etc.
