Friar Mountain Model Railroad Museum in Sparta NJ is closing after 18 years! Decades of hard work and unbelievable craftsmanship are evident in this amazing model museum. All trains & beautiful handmade displays are now available for new collectors.
There are model trains, buildings, accessories, bridges, toys, collectible items, Revolutionary War replicas -everything is for sale!
- The trains, tracks, sets and buildings are mostly G gauge. (There are also a few different scale trains available.)
- G gauge is the largest type of model trains and were designed to run outdoors. They originally were made by LGB, a German company.
- Over 150 buildings available - all handmade - these are true examples of beautiful workmanship and attention to detail! Finished and unfinished!
- Black aluminum fencing (4’6” H) will also be for sale.
- Loads of historical collectibles that are currently part of the museum will also be for sale.

A replica "High Point Mountain" display will amaze even the most experienced collector. The plaster mountain is 20' long, 8' wide and 7' high! Bring your truck! Trolley lines run on, through and around the Mountain.
- Cable cars, Ferris wheel, carousel, 20' long wood trestle bridge, 20' concrete bridge, A-frame mine bridge and so much more!
- The trains are all pre-1950s style with some special trains such as a St. Patrick’s Gold Leprechaun Train, Bunny Train, Thomas and Friends, Halloween Ghost Train, Christmas Santa Claus Train, etc.
- Vintage toys and a model car collection are also available.
- Local fossils, Native American Indian artifacts
- Snuff bottle, baseball cards, Halloween items, magazine racks, display cabinets, Shield & foil set, Marine Corp flag, 45-Star American flag, Chinese teapots, kids’ party favors -tons!, Thomas kids’ train sets, authentic antique fireman’s helmet, antique Morse code telegraph machine, authentic 4-way railroad signal/Dressel lantern, Halloween items, beautiful Train photos & MORE!
- The history section contains beautiful high-quality replicas & originals of Revolutionary War and local history memorabilia, including letters from several Founding Fathers, battle documents, memorabilia on George Washington, General Lafayette and the Jersey Blues. The Jersey Blues served with Colonel Washington during the French and Indian War, and with General Washington during the War of Independence.
This much-loved, labor of love collection of treasures is just waiting for new owners who will cherish these pieces and proudly display them for a new generation!
