Sweet & Company will be in the Elmwood Village this upcoming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for a very special estate sale at the longtime home of Henry and Nina Cornell. Henry was a direct descendant (third great grandson) of Ezra Cornell, founder of Western Union and namesake of Cornell University. Nina was from the prominent Bayard family of Pittsburg PA, and was a descendant of Peter Stuyvesant. They filled their home with many wonderful pieces passed down from generations, including period English furniture, rare books, and sterling silver.

There are a pair of early 19th century English Chippendale style chairs, a Chippendale style sofa, a Ducan Phyfe dining table with 10 ribbon-back chairs, an 18th century large demilune table, an early 19th century Chippendale chest of drawers, an antique canopy bed, 19th century stands, a 19th century flame mahogany paw foot chest of drawers, a regency style bench, an antique oak roll-top desk, a Kipp Stewart for Drexel drop leaf dining table with six chairs, an early Chippendale style blanket chest, many antique wood side chairs, and antique iron garden furniture.

There are rare books including Le Morte d’Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory, Illustrations of the Book of Job by William Blakes, W. Churchill The History of the English Speaking Peoples, Waverly Novels by Sir Walter Scott, and Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen 1894 green and gold embossed peacock edition, just to name a few. There is also a large quantity of sterling silver including Tiffany, Gorham, Lunt, Reed and Barton, and early English hallmarked pieces. We also have amazing vintage women’s clothing that spans from the early 1900s through the 1980s.

There is a 19th century French papier-mâché snuff box, Steuben glass and Lalique crystal, early English, French, and Chinese porcelain, a large early 20th century Asian painting on silk, an early 19th century carriage scene oil painting, a Sally Cook painting, Griswold and Wagner cast iron pans, a Kitcheaid stand mixer, antique trunks, turntables, audio equipment, albums, vintage toys, vintage lighting and more.

Also included in the sale is a collection of fly fishing rods and reels including Leonard, Abercrombie and Fitch, Orvis, Kent, Powell, Hardy Brothers, and Merical.

There is also a Bertazzoni 36in gas range, an antique Detroit Jewel gas stove, a Whirlpool fridge and freezer, and a Samsung washing machine.

Sales like this do not come along often, we hope you can join us this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!

**Signup list will be posted Thursday at 5pm**

The home will be listed with Kristan Andersen, Gurney Becker & Bourne, following the estate sale.
