What a great way to start off the year with this exceptional sale in an old Rochester City home. It’s full of lovely real antiques and collectibles the listing of which seems never ending, but read on ….

We start with jewelry - 14 carat gold and silver jewelry and costume jewelry. Then we have the Sterling Silver and Silver plated items which include a complete set of sterling silver Kirk and Company repoussé dinner silverware. Other fine items include an antique glass epergne, a pair of painted porcelain and metal urns, a Rosenthal figurine of a woman playing a lute or mandolin – there’s a Moorcroft Arts and Crafts vase from England, a set of eight Limoges portrait plates, signed L. Jean and an historical Staffordshire carving plate. Also we have Royal Doulton items, ABC plates, Austrian plates, a collection of Beatrix Potter characters and a very large assortment of dinnerware and look out for the fine onyx desk set. There’s a complete set of Hawkes crystal, a Miller glass lamp and a glass chandelier. Just in case you were wondering if we had any more glass we have Victorian Art glass, art glass lamps, aurene light shades and pair of beautiful, signed aurene Durand candlesticks.

If you love dolls you have the choice from this large collection of antique dolls – bisque head French, German, Austrian and fashion dolls and of course we also have a collection of fine Teddy bears.

In the furniture category there's a Victorian chest and table, a demi-lune Edwardian cabinet, a Chinese table, a large pier mirror with marble seat and a lady’s desk. There’s also a selection of Empire furniture, bureau’s, a sleigh bed, a 1920’s Renaissance Revival sideboard, salesman’s samples and an elegant sofa that was once in Marshall Field’s house with many more furniture items.

There are several good oil paintings one of which is a signed Carl Peters painting entitled “Rockport” and amongst others an appealing oil on canvas portrait of a very lively looking baby.

Other items include a Nantucket basket, large quilts and fine linens and as always we have the usual basement and attic clutter we all like to explore.
