Description & Details

Our third sale of the year takes place in an historic farm house on East Avenue, Rochester, New York.  Most of the items for sale have been handed down through generations of the owner’s family and comprise of many fine antiques.

Let’s start with a selection of sterling silver flatware and serving pieces and a large selection of jewelry, both fine and costume which includes pieces made of gold and silver.

From the Far East there is a very large selection of Chinese Rose Medallion and other porcelain pieces, a large Chinese ancestral portrait and many oriental rugs. The list of antique furniture includes a Chippendale tall chest, a Queen Anne base, a William and Mary chest, a two drawer stand with birds-eye maple veneer, a pair of Queen Anne chairs, Chippendale Centennial Chairs, a canopy bed, assorted chairs, a gate-leg table, a Victorian commode with marble top, a daybed, a Victorian wash-stand and an English period corner chair, a very large curio cabinet with glazed doors, a Chippendale mirror, and an etching signed by John Sloan.

We have several clocks in “as is” condition, water colors, silhouettes and lithographs including “Washington’s Grand Entrance into New York, November 25th, 1783”.  The book collection includes a second edition of “The Grammar of Ornament” by Owen Jones with 712 plates.  There are perfumes, Staffordshire dogs, Red-ware and Ironstone items, a painted toleware box, linens and an early pillow felt appliqué rug depicting cats… and of course we have a selection of kitchen items both for collectors and everyday use…. and down in the basement is a very large tool shop with many, many tools, as well as a fine large table by Herman Miller.

Having been so busy with estate sales of late we haven’t had time to discover everything this house has to offer so check back for more pictures and details of this special sale as we uncover more treasures.  Looking forward to seeing you all again – come snow, rain or shine Jack Wanderman and his team will be there!
