Auction Terms & Conditions

Thank you for participating in our auction.

Many of the items offered come from long-held private collections, estates, and collections assembled over decades by passionate collectors, dealers, and enthusiasts. We do our best to research, photograph, and describe every lot as accurately as possible. However, we are not a team of museum curators or scientific testing laboratories, and all descriptions reflect our opinions based on available information and experience.

We encourage bidders to carefully review all photographs, ask questions, and request additional information before placing bids.

Condition and Descriptions

All items are sold as-is and where-is.

The condition, age, origin, attribution, authenticity, and historical information provided in catalog descriptions represent our opinion only. Reasonable people and experts can disagree, especially in fields such as antiquities, ethnographic art, tribal art, Asian art, and historical artifacts.

Photographs are considered part of the description and bidders should examine them carefully.

Bidding

By placing a bid, you are entering into a binding agreement to purchase the item if you are the winning bidder.

The auctioneer reserves the right to reject bids, withdraw lots, combine or divide lots, or resolve any bidding disputes in a manner deemed fair and appropriate.

Payment

Invoices are due promptly following the auction.

Items will not be released until payment has been received and cleared.

Shipping and Pickup

We are happy to assist buyers in arranging shipping whenever possible, but shipping costs, insurance, and transportation arrangements remain the responsibility of the buyer.

Once an item leaves our possession, responsibility transfers to the buyer and carrier.

Returns

All sales are final.

Because of the nature of antiques, collectibles, ethnographic material, and estate property, no returns or refunds will be accepted. We strongly encourage bidders to ask questions before bidding.

Authenticity

Many pieces offered have been acquired over many decades and may include old collection labels, previous auction references, family provenance, collector notes, or historical documentation. Such information is presented for reference and research purposes.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, no guarantee is made regarding age, authenticity, cultural attribution, origin, or historical significance.

Our Approach

We genuinely enjoy discovering, researching, and sharing unusual and historic objects. We spend considerable time studying each lot and presenting it honestly. Sometimes new information emerges, opinions differ, and scholarship changes over time. That is simply part of collecting and studying antiques.

We ask bidders to bid based on their own knowledge, judgment, and appreciation of the objects offered.

Final Thoughts

Our goal is simple: offer interesting objects, provide the best information we can, and make the auction enjoyable for everyone involved.

We appreciate your interest, your trust, and your participation. Good luck, and thank you for bidding.

A Cut Above Auction

Description & Details

We are pleased to present the second offering from the extraordinary lifetime collection of a respected dealer and collector whose passion for history, art, and collecting spanned more than sixty years.

A dear friend and mentor, he assembled thousands of objects over a lifetime, ranging from ancient artifacts and ethnographic works to Asian art, decorative arts, fine art, and historical treasures from around the world. His passion for discovering exceptional objects never faded, and he continued acquiring new finds until his passing. Many of the pieces presented in this sale have remained carefully preserved and out of public view for decades, while others were among his later acquisitions.

This auction is devoted entirely to his collection and continues the ongoing presentation of the remarkable body of material he assembled over more than six decades. Each sale brings forward another group of discoveries, reflecting the extraordinary breadth of his interests and a lifetime spent searching for objects of history, beauty, rarity, and significance.

Please check the catalog regularly. New lots will continue to be added as we work through and catalog the collection, generally until approximately two weeks before the auction.

As always, our catalog descriptions reflect our research and opinions. Bidders are encouraged to examine each lot carefully, review all photographs, and form their own conclusions regarding attribution, age, origin, and condition.

Thank you for participating in our second sale. Please save A Cut Above Auction to your favorites and follow our future auctions, as much more from this extraordinary lifetime collection remains to be discovered and offered.
