The following I have copied from various biographies about my clients.
Joanne ''Lewis’ name also graces four local history books as author, editor or contributor; “To Market, To Market — An Old Fashioned Family Story: The West Side Market,” “In My Day” and “In Our Day,” oral and architectural histories of Cleveland Heights; and “My Recollections of Old Cleveland: Manners, Mansions, Mischief,” which chronicles Cleveland’s ‘Millionaire’s Row’ district.''
"A native Clevelander, Lewis graduated from Heights School in 1951. The founder and longtime director of Cuyahoga Community College’s Global Issues Resource Center, she also founded and continues to advise Tri-C’s Robert L. Lewis Academy of Scholars, and was a founding trustee of the Cleveland Opera, the Footpath Dance Company in Shaker Heights and the Fairmount Center for the Arts.''
"Mr. Lewis taught contract and corporate law at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Also a professor at Case Western Reserve University's Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations, he directed the program's Trusteeship Initiative and wrote the book Effective Nonprofit Management: Essential Lessons for Executive Directors. He was named Professor of the Year at Case recently."
"In 1962, Mr. Lewis, who was passionate about the right of every person to pursue a higher education, was appointed president of a citizen committee to help establish a community college in Cleveland. For 18 years he served as board chairman and trustee at Cuyahoga Community College, which opened in September 1963. For many years he was the school's scholar-in-residence and taught a course in Greek mythology and drama. He also served as a past president of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, PACE (Program for Action by Citizens in Education) and Fairmount Center for the Creative and Performing Arts."
"An early organizer and supporter of The Hebrew Free Loan Association, Mr. Lewis also volunteered for Jewish Family Service Association, the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland, and The Ratner School. He enjoyed traveling, and was especially drawn to the ancient archaeological ruins of Greece."
