This winsome lady is an early Darby figurine who has been painstakingly modeled, hand painted and incredibly detailed. This piece captures the ideal English lady going about her daily duties of collecting fresh eggs and gathering flowers in a jaunty hat, bright gown and highly ornate shoes. Flowers adorn not only the dress, but seem to bloom wherever this lady appears including the white base with scrolled legs upon which she stands. This wool rug features diamond central medallions in cream, green, yellow and scarlet on a burgundy field filled with geometric designs. Bands of repeating geometric designs flank either end, leading to additional diamond medallions and brief compound borders. The major, unresolved diamond patterned borders are surrounded by colorful guard borders. This rug has natural wool fringe to one side and is unmarked.Carved Mayan Warrior Mask: A Mayan wooden warrior mask. Carved from tropical wood, this piece features a victorious warrior in full battle regalia of a feathered head dress, beads and cloth, kneeling with the head of his vanquished foe held up for inspection. A panther figure appears to be coming from the top of the victim’s head, while an opened mouth snake slithers beneath. The figures are resting on a series of rectangular pieces lined in gold with a central, crescent moon figure with human face. The mask ends with an opened mouth Mayan warrior face with flanking adornments. The mask hangs with a wire to verso. This item matches 17COL081-086 in this sale.
