Asian arts rarities – Chinese & Japanese paintings on scrolls, hand-scrolls, rare art books, woodblock prints, and ceramics – from an old Laurelhurst estate that have been in storage for decades. Stay tuned: In the coming weeks we will hold “part two” of the Asian arts sale (yes, there are that many rare items), plus there will be sales of the estate's large collections of 78 RPM & Cylinder records - All fresh from storage since 2010.

Lot preview & silent bidding begin at 1pm. Walk-around lot closings begin at 2pm.

- Umerhara Sueji. (1947, complete, very fine). Kankaro Kikkinzu (Bronzes in the Kanka Mansion).

- Conder (1911). Paintings and studies by Kawanabe Kyosai.

See our lot list and detailed photos below to get a good sense of the scope and quality of the items available. Most of these items were purchased by the estate owner back in the 1950s-1970s. Many have not seen the light of day - literally - for at least a generation.

A LOW-STRESS "Silent" AUCTION

This is a walk-around silent auction bid sale. "Low-stress": meaning that during the walk-around closing of the auction, interested buyers have opportunity to add to their bid -- this eliminates any rushing or athleticism in the sale. Items will have - LOW starting bids. NO reserve. NO buyer's premium. NO sales tax.

Limited parking in our small cul-de-sac, but more parking a block away off Stevens Way.

ABOUT THE "Silent" AUCTION PROCESS

As you enter, you will receive your bidder number. Each lot will have a bright yellow bid sheet nearby with a brief description and minimum starting bid price.

BIDDING

To place a bid, write your bidder number and dollar bid amount on the next available line on the bid sheet. Whole dollars only. The item goes to the highest bidder present at closing. There are no reserve prices.

AUCTION CLOSING begins at 2pm

The staff will make announcements giving everyone plenty of warning as closing time for each item approaches.

If there are items you are particularly interested in and want to make certain you get in your best bid, stand near that item's bid sheet and the auction closer will give you and other interested bidders opportunity for further bids.

You must be present to win your bid, otherwise, the next highest bidder present is awarded the item.
