Born to Thomas and Emma Hunt, he was a member of the Fort Rupert Band of the Kwagiulth nation.  In the early 1960's Eugene spent about four years carving at Thunderbird Park, Royal B.C. Museum in Victoria where he learned from Mungo Martin and Henry Hunt. He left his artwork for the next twenty-five years which he spent as a commercial fisherman. Eugene resumed carving in 1987 and also took up painting. In recent years he worked with Calvin Hunt, George Hunt, Jr. and John Livingston. He was so impatient to get the book to print that he had not approved all of Cruikshanks&rsquo; illustrations (sent to the printer separately), and within a week of the first printing, Dickens stopped press to replace the final plate and put his name on the titles. Thus, this particular issue was only on the market for 7 days. This set is in exceptional condition, with no extraneous marks, foxing, or tears. Additionally, this album contains the printed advertisement leaf announcing the publication of "Tale of Two Cities" and two sets of original printed blue wrappers for the serially issued parts of the novel bound in. After receiving his degree from the Harvard Medical School in 1825, Fisher spent two years studying in Paris with Laennec, Andral, and Velpeau. This book was prepared from materials Fisher collected in Paris. The printing house where this first edition was produced caught fire, and most of the copies printed were destroyed, so this volume is exceedingly rare. Illustrated with 13 plates copied from paintings rendered at the bedsides of afflicted patients. This copy is nearly disbound, but internally very clean and fresh.</p> 600 800 300

599 <p>[Canon Law] "Corpus Juris Canonici Gregorii XIII", (Frankfurt, Duren Bros. 1748) [2 vols]; Folio; contemporary mottled calf (worn, panels of Vol. II detached);  Attempts to codify the body of canon law began in earnest during the Carolingian period. These efforts reached fruition between 1020 and 1025 in the Decretum of Burchard, Bishop of Worms. This was superseded in 1151 by Gratian's epochal Concordia Discordantium Canonum, or Decretum Gratiani. Though never officially sanctioned, this work is the cornerstone of the body of texts known as the Corpus Juris Canonici. The next great step was taken in 1234 with the Liber Quinque Decretalium of Gregory IX, the first official collection of canon law. The Liber Sextus of Boniface VIII (1298) added updates and modifications. John XXII added the final official collection of canon law, the Liber Septimus Decretalium, better known as the "Constitutiones Clementis V" or simply "Clementinae".</p> 200 300 100
