1. Types of Auctions
Online Only Auctions
All Alderfer Auctions are ONLINE except for select real estate auctions that may be conducted in front of a live audience (and online). Alderfer Auction has its own bidding platform for online bidding at alderferauction.com and on the Alderfer Auction App. The Buyer is responsible for all online bidding. Alderfer Auction cannot place bids on the buyer's behalf, as the buyer must properly register his/her information.

Alderfer Auction or any of its staff shall not be held responsible or liable for any human or technical bidding errors, or internet bidding system shutdowns that may occur.

Live Online Auctions (Online Only Auction with Multiple Bidding Platforms)
Live Online Auctions are an online only auction using multiple bidding platforms. A Live Online Auction has pre-bidding until the start of the auction at which time pre-bidding will cease, and the auction will go live at the auction center (no live audience, just our auctioneer and auction staff). When the auction goes live, lots will be sold one lot at a time, in numerical order, by a live auctioneer who will be taking bids from multiple online bidding platforms, absentee and phone bids. During pre-bidding you can submit a "Max Bid" (maximum bid). If you want to leave a max bid, make sure you are the highest bidder before you place your max bid. The bidding platform or our auction staff will bid on your behalf up to the maximum bid that you have entered. Once the auction goes live if you wish to increase your bid you will have to wait until that lot opens for bidding and enter any additional bids manually.
Alderfer Auction or any of its staff shall not be held responsible or liable for any human or technical bidding errors, or internet bidding system shutdowns that may occur.

Real Estate Live In-Person and Online Bidding
Real Estate Live and Online Auctions are conducted in front of a live audience and online. While the auctioneer is receiving bids from an assembled audience, phone and absentee bidders, the auctioneer is also taking bids from bidders who are bidding through the Alderfer Auction bidding platform in real time or by pre and live bidding. Following the auction the successful bidders are notified, and payment arrangements are made; applicable buyer?s premium applies.

Alderfer Auction or any of its staff shall not be held responsible or liable for any human or technical bidding errors, or internet bidding system shutdowns that may occur.

Identical Bids
During auctions, Alderfer Auction utilizes various bidding options, including multiple online bidding platforms, to accept bids in real time. Because multiple bidding options are present, identical bids may occur on the same lot, without notification to the bidder, prior to and during the live auction.
The various bidding platforms being utilized by Alderfer Auction do not communicate with one another.
The winner of the identical bids is determined by the order in which the auctioneer recognizes/accepts the bids in real time. Based on the start price and all other competing bids, it is possible for an absentee bid, either online or in-house, to fall off-increment and land in favor of another bidder at the absentee bidder?s maximum bid. In all cases, the auctioneer makes the final determination over which bids to accept and in which order.

Auctioneer's Authority
The auctioneer retains full and final discretion in all matters relating to the conduct of the auction. This includes, but is not limited to, the right to determine bidding increments, to reject any bid, to resolve any dispute between bidders, and to reopen bidding at the auctioneer's sole discretion. The auctioneer's decision shall be final and binding.

2. Buyer's Premium, Sales Tax & Payment
Applicable buyer?s premium is applied per item per auction. The hammer price, buyer's premium and sales tax shall be added together to reach the Total Price per item.

Successful online bidders, who bid through a third-party online bidding platform, will be assessed a 5% surcharge on the Total Price. This charge offsets the fee collected by the third-party platform. For more information regarding this charge please see third party website for terms.

PA residents pay 6% sales tax unless a Tax-Exempt Form is on file with Alderfer Auction. Please note when bidding on Live Auctioneers third-party platform and are an out-of-state buyer: if you live in a state that Live Auctioneers has sales tax nexus in, Live Auctioneers will include sales tax unless you have a valid tax exemption certificate on file with Live Auctioneers.

Upon a successful online bid, payments are due immediately upon purchase. Returned checks will be assessed a $35 charge for insufficient funds.

Acceptable forms of payments are Visa, MasterCard, Discover and PayPal (with the exception of Firearms, Militaria & Sporting Auctions), wire transfer, money order, cash and check. A 3.0% processing fee is added to all invoices paid by PayPal and credit card.

Upon a successful online bid and invoice totaling over $2,500, payment of invoice requires cash, wire transfer, cashier?s check, money order within 5 business days of auction close. For wire transfer instructions please email info@alderferauction.com.
No Chargeback Policy
Purchasers agree that disputes of any nature may not be resolved by a credit card chargeback and further agree to refrain from filing any chargeback claim against Alderfer Auction and/or its credit card merchant. By purchasing at Alderfer Auction, the purchaser waives the right to initiate a chargeback and furthermore agrees to pay a minimum of $600 plus administrative fees, costs, attorney fees, and/or any other charges associated with responding to said chargeback due to the administrative burden of responding to said dispute.
