Description & Details

Fabulous Antique Pewter Wares, Sterling, Stoneware, Art, Collectables and General Antiques!!

This auction is sure to delight the collectors of rare and hard to find antique pewter wares. From Plates to 1/4 gill baluster measures, Various cups, pots, ladles and more from a private collection of The Sloane Family. The Sloane family's roots in the Philadelphia area stretch back to the mid-17th century, deeply intertwined with American history. From the Thomas family, with William, a Baptist minister in Montgomery County, and his grandson Freeman Thomas, the first to tunnel for coal in the Wyoming Valley, PA, to the Levis family of Springfield, PA, who ran mills and spied on the British, and the influential Garretts aiding the Underground Railroad, their legacy is rich. In Moorestown, NJ, they trace their lineage to the Burr family.

Virginia Sloane's lineage deeply influenced her husband, a history teacher passionate about the colonial period. Over 40 years, he amassed a collection of pewter, with a few pieces passed down through the family, carefully inspecting marks for rare finds, totaling over 70 pieces.

It is now time for them to find new homes and continue this multiple family legacy.  Some of the touchmarked pewterer names include but are not limited to: Josiah Danforth, Richard Webb, W&T Avery, Thomas Townsend, Crown & Rose, George Richardson, William Cooke, William McQuilkin, F.G HAles, James Yates, W.R Loftus, Boardman & Co., Samual Danforth, Rufus Dunham, John Heaney and MANY MORE. Some from the USA and many touchmarked in London and the British Isles. MANY pieces from the 18th Century & 19th Century and there may be a piece or two from the late 17th!!

Outside of the fabulous pewter collection there are several pieces of jewelry and of signed original art including two sets of FABULOUS large antique original hand painted asian ancestral or emperor and empress paintings. There are SEVERAL pieces of silver, sterling including 2 gorgeous Tiffany and Co. hand brushes, trays, bowls, and bon bons. Some coin silver flatwares included. There are a few vintage fur coats, LOTS of early crocks and stoneware jugs and SEVERAL other collectables. There is truly something for everyone in this diverse auction!!
