Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers is proud to announce their three session Winter antiques and fine art auction featuring a wide variety of decorative and fine arts, Asian arts, militaria, and erotic art collected from multiple New England estates. The first session will start at 10:30 featuring over one hundred fifty lots offered live in the gallery with no absentee or online bidding. The second session will start at 12:00 featuring over three hundred fifty lots with online bidding available on Invaluable and Liveauctioneers.

 

The first portion of the cataloged sale will open with over forty pieces of artwork consisting of various artists and styles. Fine art highlights include an oil on board hunting scene by Gregory Hollyer (1871-1965), a gouache and watercolor Dutch market scene by Francis Van Vreeland (1879-1954), and an oil on canvas landscape by Edmund Aylburton Willis (1808-1899).

 

The second portion of the catalog will include two hundred lots of antiques, decorative arts, oriental rugs and textiles, and militaria. Decorative art highlights include a Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) Madoura Picador ceramic bowl, a 19C. full body copper and lead cow weathervane, a C.1910 Folk Art full body copper and lead goose weathervane, a Neoclassic bronze figure of Thetis mantle clock by Pierre Eugene Emile Hebert (1828-1893), and a large French bronze garniture set of Gil Blas and Rolando attributed to Edmund Louis Auguste Leveque (1814-1875).Within the decorative arts section one hundred lots of militaria will be offered including ephemera, firearms, medals, and much more. Military highlights include a rare Ames U.S Revenue Marine Service sword, a WWI German Luger pistol, and multiple original WWI and WWII war effort posters.

 

The final portion of the catalog will include forty lots of Asian arts and antiques. Asian art highlights include a 19C. Chinese gilt bronze White Tara Buddha, an 18C. Indian Hindu bronze figure of a standing Ganesh, and a large Chinese Qing Dynasty landscape scroll painting of grazing horses.

The third session of Bruneau’s sale will start at 4:00 featuring sixty lots of erotic artwork from a single Providence, Rhode Island estate. Erotic art highlights include four Franz Bergman erotic bronze groupings, three erotic bronze figures by Bruno Zach (1891-1945), seven colored etchings by Claes Oldenburg (b.1929) from his Erotic Fantasy series, and three Trompe L’Oeil erotic paintings by Pierre Ducordeau (b.1928).
