Session 1: RISD Museum Bandboxes & Hatboxes at 10am
Experience a historic selection of hatboxes from the deaccessioned collection of the RISD museum, with their vibrant colors and unusual patterns. From well known makers such as Hannah Davis to boxes lined with 19th Century newspapers, this auction features a rare box depicting President Andrew Jackson in commemoration of his campaign during the War of 1812. Come see the historic wallpapers and designs of the Victorian era and the magical world of hat storage!
Session 2: Mendon Historical Society Figural Creamers at 11am
From the Mendon Historical Society comes an array of pottery from Royal Bayreuth, Rookwood and others ranging from animal creamers to Toby pitchers. This whimsical collection largely showcases the creativity and design prowess of German porcelain, which not only hold their own historic value, but maintain a lovely decorative value!
Session 3: Original McCoy Stadium PawSox Murals at Noon
Nostalgia is calling with forty-two massive original murals that hung in McCoy stadium of past PawSox players, baseball fanatics and art enthusiasts alike will enjoy these works from RISD graduate Carol “Tayo” Heuser! From Roger Clemens, Jim Rice and Nomar Garciapara, to Bo Diaz, Cecil Cooper, and Oil-Can Boyd, this collection boasts a player for everyone!
Session 4: Matthew Forte Police Equipment at 1pm
Matthew G. Forte was a retired Training Director of the Port Authority of NY and NJ Police, staff writer for the Police Collector News and wrote about police equipment for law enforcement journals and publications as well as two books on early police equipment. This wonderful personal collection includes early restrainsts, clubs, lanters and other curios devices.
