Mrs. Free is one of the most beautiful and active women we have ever met, she is physically in better condition than most women half her age and she keeps in shape by "never slowing down".
Mott was born Martha Ann Brabham in Bamberg, SC. As a young women she was involved in sports, cheerleading and all the usual "girl things".
Mott always loved to dance and was a big fan of rhythm and blues music. In 1959 she met her husband, Bobby Free from Cottageville, SC at a dance. He was really Mr. Boogie and they realized that they had a lot in common.
They were married in 1960 and had three children, all boys. They continued to dance over
the years and started teaching shag lessons in 1982. As it would turn out, one of their children, Matt, was a great dancer and started competing when he was 10. Matt was in the movie "SHAG", and won the National Shag Dance Championship three times with his partner, Leslie Williamson.
Mott Free has four grandchildren and three of them "shag"; the youngest is only two, so......her day is coming.
Mott's life time job was as a banker. However, her heart was always in being creative.
She tried her hand at selling in consignment shops and started helping friends with decorating decisions. She still has a passion for decorating, which is evident in her lovely home. Her biggest thrill comes from helping someone else. At 72, she is often asked to help other so to quote her, "maybe I am doing something right".
In 2006, she lost Bobby, her best friend, dance partner and husband of forty-six years to cancer and six months prior to his death they bought a cottage at North Myrtle Beach "the Shag Capitol" and Bobby loved it there.
Although she has mixed emotions about her move to North Myrtle Beach, the time has come todownsize. Her philosophy is "God knows the plan for me so I want to slow down, take one day at a time, and listen for that plan!"
Palmetto Estate Liquidators is really so blessed to have met Mott and to have been given the charge to assist her in meeting God's Plan for her.
