Description & Details

The Collection of Ken Striker and David Burkhalter

Dr. Striker was a leader in the medical and art community in Chattanooga. After serving in the Air Force, Ken became the first director of Pathology at Parkridge Hospital. Twenty years later, Ken helped found Chattanooga’s first blood bank, Blood Assurance, serving as it’s Medical Director. We don’t know how he had the time, but Dr. Striker was also an avid collector and supporter of the art community. Specifically, Ken was involved in the growth and support of the Hunter Museum of Art. Ken and his husband David have a vast collection of art with an emphasis on local artists. David has decided it’s time to share the collection with the community. He is giving the community a rare opportunity to acquire some truly magnificent pieces. The collection features works by George Cress, Wayne Wu, and Léon Danchin. The house also has a superb selection of decorative arts including Waterford, Baccarat, Giuseppe Armani, Lalique, and Herend. One of the highlights of the house is its impressive furniture kept in excellent condition. Names like Henkel Harris, Havertys Furniture, and Henredon accent the home. Fine wool handmade rugs are available as well. A large selection of vintage sound & audio equipment will also be available.
