Schows' Estates is privileged to be offering the Estate of Richard Edgerton. Mr. Edgerton was a long time antique dealer here in the Chattanooga area. The sale's highlights include, fine antique furniture including several fantastic bookcases and China hutches, 16th-19th Century artwork by listed artists, collection of antique books dating to as early as the 17th Century including a 1687 English Edition of Don Quixote, 1802 Edition of John Adam’s Wealth of Nations, Trumbull’s 1840 Indian Wars, Matthew Carter’s Analysis of Honor and Armory 1660 edition, large collection of leather bound Easton Press, antique cast iron banks and toys, fine antique rugs, 19th Century glass, early American flags, militaria, ornate canes including a WWI hidden Periscope cane, gorgeous stained glass, Nautical ephemera and collectables, quilts, etc. This is a sale that should not be missed.

A deluxe grade U.S. Model 1852 U.S. Naval Officer's sword with a Klingenthal blade assembled / retailed by E. Leon, Paris. Deeply etched blade is in very nice condition, with standard m1852 pattern motifs of an American Eagle, Fouled Anchor and U.S.N. in a banner to the left side. Right side bears anchor topped with a Federal Shield and an oval panel consisting of 33 stars. Ricasso measures 1.15" and is correctly stamped with inspector marks of crown "B" and shield "S". Spine is engraved with Klingenthal marking and hilt is stamped on under side of guard with "E. L. with 3 stars" (mark of E. Leon, an assembler and retailer of swords located in Paris). Grip is excellent with a white rayskin grip and original double strand wire wrap. Blade measures 29” and sword has an overall length of 33”. Scabbard is leather, complete with matching throat, middle band and drag bearing sea monster. The rare scabbard is a correct French top stitched scabbard. Note scabbard has a partial break near the
